Dwarf Angel Alternative

Fairy & flasher wrasses are more water column feeders from what I've seen, as opposed to leopard, possum, Halichoeres (Hoeven's etc.) , and Pseudocheilinus (sixline etc.) wrasses. They won't make any more of a dent on microfauna than your average clown or cardinal. My personal favorites (that are fairly affordable) would be Naoko's fairy, yellow fin fairy (Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis), and Lubbock's fairy (Cirrhilabrus lubbocki). Good luck

Oh, thanks for clarifying that. I had a Flasher Wrasse for a while and noticed a massive decline in my pod population after adding him. It could have been coincidental timing though, since I ended up trading him off a couple months later with half my other fish due to phosphates being uncontrollably high.

If you go with a wrasse, I would ensure that you have a lid that covers all open areas (as best as possible). I have had several jump out on me over the years. Some I was there for and saw/heard, but others were found the next morning. I learned quickly to always cover all the gaps. I had lids but there were always small openings and they managed to find them.

Yes. While all fish can jump, wrasses will jump into the next tide pool which happens to be your floor, and egg crate will not keep them in.

I hope to get 2 starcki damsels tomorrow. Since they are even rare around here I ordered them from Blue Zoo.

I won't be getting anything until after Thanksgiving at least. You'll have to let me know how they work out. When I think less aggressive I'm thinking Ocellaris Clowns. Is this the kind of aggression we're talking about with the Starckis?

Less so than a bonded pair of clownfish
