Dwarf Angel ID

That's no C. multicolor guys... well... 50% multicolor... and no interrupta or nahackyi in it...

Here is a picture of the fish provided by the owner of the store (Ocean Gallery II in northern NJ) and his description:

This came from the Phillipines as a multicolor, but I think this it's a hybrid Dusty x Flame or Dusty x Multicolor or maybe it's a lost juv Nahacky (extremely doubtful.)

No I did not buy the fish, the last multicolor I had destroyed my SPS and he was removed. The shepardi/false shepardi is doing just fine with corals, so I don't want to jinx myself.

Looks to be a C. multicolor/ C. ferrugata cross, which is entirely possible...

look at a C. hotumatu , then look at the C. ferrugata. looks like a hybrid of these

hotumatua ranges nowhere near Cebu in the Philippines and this is thus an impossibility, as is nahackyi...

Copps

Agree, I have seen juvenile C. nahackyi and they don't look like that, and as Copps says, their range is way too far away. Whoever ends up with this fish let me know, I want tissue samples! :) That is the only way to confirm.

Probably should have payed attention to where he said it was from. lol. I was just looking at the pictures. :worried2: but im no expert. I was basing it on the fact that the hotumatua has the small eyeball on the dorsal fin. I didnt see it on the others

Just WoooW!!!! what a fish!
Looks like a C.ferrugatus x multicolor , a real super fish.

Can you put up a photo of the juv nahackyi

Nice photo of the adult, Luiz. Must be pretty special to get so close to one :)

As for this little one... what a ripper! Whoever it's made its way to is a very, very lucky reefer. Especially if John's ID here proves to be as accurate as it would appear to be.

Yuri, juvi nahackyi don't look much different than adults... just like juvi multicolor don't look much different... they do get the ocellus on the rear of the dorsal fin though... this is a smaller specimen that went to the Waikiki Aquarium... photo is from Charles Delbeek...

I'm dreaming another nahackyi is caught in Hawaii and sent to me... :)

Ferrugata is a promiscuous species it seems... here are a few shots of my ferrugata/ loriculus hybrids...

Copps, I'm surprised you have time to post. I figured you were busy catching a plane to New Jersey :lmao:

The 2nd and 3rd pics really do show an interesting crown...
Copps- is it a hybrid or a genetic abberation?
Thanks, TK
MikeandNicole- Is the fish still at the store?
What did they price it at?
Just curious- what did they call it?

No idea if the fish is still there. It had just arrived when I was there and was not for sale. They posted it in my local forum with other fish with prices but never listed that one. I may have to shoot them a PM and see what it is going for. It is a very tempting fish.
