Dwarf Angel in a 3ft Nano?

I have a Mr. Aqua 12g tank (36x9x9), currently only housing a YWG. I was thinking of trying a smaller dwarf angel given the length (probably a pygmy).

Any concerns with the lack of depth and height? I know aggression can be a problem in cramped quarters. Water volume wise, I have a 12g sump and nicely sized skimmer so I don't expect water quality to be an issue.

IMO 12g is not big enough for a dwarf angel. Twice I have had cherub (pygmy) angels which may be the smallest of the dwarf angels, and even in a 75g tank they run the whole show. They need a lot of room to explore, and they annoy other fish because they become pugnacious once settled in and do not care whose territory they invade.

I think that housing a dwarf angel in this tank could work, provided you take a few precautions.

I would add a small juvenile of what ever species you decide on.

I would not add any other fish to the tank after the addition of the angel.

I have kept several angels in an 18 gallon cube and IMO the 3ft length of your tank is better than the extra water volume of my cube.

Give it a try but be prepared to move the fish if needed.

I think the angel Will be fine. I had one in a 29 nano cube and in a 4 breeder and it did great. Of course bigger is better but i think you will be fine.
