Dwarf seahorse tank

I have 12 in there and it could easily hold many more. They seem to be pretty happy so far.

I really don't have much in there besides a piece of LR and the mangrove. I put some caulerpa in it but it started looking rough so I took it back out. Mostly the focus is on the seahorses.

What did you say you were feeding them again, Mike? I can't remember. :)

Also, can you get the dwarf SHs in different colors?

Baby brine shrimp. Basically I have to hatch them every so often and store them in the refidgerator for a few days.

The colors vary some but most of the ones I got were pretty light colored. I think some are yellowish and some are brownish. It is hard to tell but the one in that first picture has orangish highlights.

I had some erectus sehorses and some of them had very cool colors. Some were reddish and some were greenish. I'll have to dig up some pictures of them.

He finally had babies today! I found 10 and hope I got them all. From what I understand that is the normal number. They are eating baby brine shrimp already.

And I have an empty Nano Cube that I'm trying so hard not to set back up (it was the one I had at work before I left)

Mike, you're not helping...LOL!

Seriously though,

That is a sweet looking set up. I'm jealous, but I'm trying to scale back, not add.

I have heard nanocubes aren't very good for dwarf seahorses for some reason or other. I think it has too much flow or the filter sucks them up or something.

All the babies are still alive so far. I also noticed another one is pregnant! These things are baby making machines.

Wow, I can't believe I have had these guys for 5 months already. I didn't have anymore babies for a while until about 3 weeks ago. Since then they have had at least 35! The males seem to be constantly pregnant and the numbers keep growing every few days.

Yeah, they are in the same tank. I will probably be selling some when they get a little older. This morning I counted........43!

Well guys, I have a little bad news. I was away at a conference this weekend and when I got home the tank temp was 90 degrees. It seems the heater got stuck and it probably didn't take long for the temps to get really high. All of the dwarf seahorses died. I had over 40 when I stopped counting. This stuff always happens when you aren't home.

Must have been the weekend for stuck heaters, my freinds heater got stuck Friday night while they were out of town also and killed almost all her fish, not sure on corals yet :(. Hate to hear about your heater also! :(

Yeah, I wish I could have hooked the heater up to my AC III but I would need another expansion module for that.

I was wondering if you had a controller, Mike... but at the same time putting such a small tank on its own controller or buying the expansion may be a bit overkill.
