Dwarfs, setup?

Franco... did you order from ccritters as well? I think I am going to order 3 pairs as well here shortly and set up a 5gal tank in the living room. Now just have to find a nano filter to put in and some decent fake plants for now.

Yes I did. I would advise you to pay the extra 18$ and get them shipped overnight, just to be safe.

I purchased my 5 gallon tank with hood, light, and filter from Wal-mart for $29.95 or so, the filter is perfect ... I'm thinking about taking the mesh off of the intake, as it' so calm. Also look up a "twisted val", I believe I bought these artificial plants from Petsmart ... and they're perfect.

As I believe I mentioned above, you should also look into purchasing live chaeto. Its a great hitching post/hiding place for baby horses, a great nutrient export as it grows and portions removed, as well as a haven for pods and such for the dwarves to prey upon.

Be careful with the macro algae.. it can introduce nasties and hydroids.. Make sure to QT it and at a minimum fresh water dip it.. Even if you do both, watch for hydroids..

If you put a boy and a girl horse together, chances are they will pair up....

Good Luck with your horses.. post pictures when you get them!

I definitely will! I foresee my future with seahorses to be almost equivalent to your signature. I'm already planning another 10gal dwarf seahorse tank as they breed ...

So if you make a batch of brine shrimp, can you leave them in that container for a few days to feed from. So looks like a new batch to be made every 3 days or so? Just leave it on the counter?

Also on ccritters. There are mated pairs... and just pairs with males and females. Say if I buy 3 pair what are the odds of them pairing up and mating? If they have 10-50 offspring every few weeks, what do you do with the offspring if there isnt demand for them? Just trying to prepare for this. Sorry for all the questions. Just want to be well informed before I jump into this.

Can you go into more detail on how you hatch & enrich your artemia?

I keep my house a constant 72 degrees. Will I need a heater? Also.. if they breed so often. What do you do with the offspring if your tanks are already full? At some point you wont have anything to do with them.

Dwarves don't have a very long life span, and they aren't sexually mature for all of it -- i.e. it is premature to be worrying about that now.

Thanks for tagging along! I am a decent ways away from a build. Maybe lol
The woman says we can get a tank this month. Depends on what happens. She is trying to go back to work from maternity leave, I am trying to change shifts/positions at work. I found walmart has a 5g setup with light and filter for like $30. Not bad at all.
