Thought I would add my own post so Darryl_V doesnt have to babysit my other thread anymore.

No new corals for a while now. No new anything as I have no red bugs and no AEFW and plan to keep it that way!! Havent even added any new fish lately.
Since changing to the balling method and upping my WC frequency I have enjoyed some good growth on many pieces but others are just hanging around, which is just fine with me. I do not like a crowded tank as much as others in the hobby, I prefer to trim pretty aggressively to attain that Bonsai look. As my colonies grow in I will remove the non spectacular ones to make room for the nice ones to fill in.
Almost time for a bulb change which scares me because I hate to change anything right now.
Still battling red cyano but it is under control for now. I use Darryls method of snow and blowing the rocks off and also does Zeo Bak, this keeps it under control but I have not managed to kill it completely

Lots more to show you but running out of time

Thats all for now.
Thanks for looking

Dwayne

Gorgeous!!!

I apologize if you answered this already in the other thread but how often do you do a water change and what salt do you use?

Beautiful and healthy reef. Loved these sps photos. What's your T5 tube combo and which brand are you KZ or ATI?

Thanks.

PS feel free to post more sps shots if you have the time. :)

No problem. I use Reef Crystals and have been for 2 years, bought a bunch on sale 2 years ago and still using it up, have 4 full boxes left so I will be good for a while. Dont have to worry as much about batch to batch issues this way.

Water change is 20g every two weeks, three at most. The way I have my sump and mixing tanks set up it only takes 10 minutes tops. One of my favorite things about the basement setup

Wow that white with green polyp one is siiiiick!

Pretty lucky with this one, apparently its a hard one to keep. The pic doesnt do it justice. Its white/cream base with green polyps and really nice pink tips that I have a hard time capturing, just a little over exposed Im afraid

Thanks

very nice!

Thanks celamb89

There has got to be something about that Canadian water. Nice tank!

Nothing in MY water LOL We live on a farm with a marginal well, invested ALOT of money on a water softener/12" filter/Iron remover and UV protection. My tds is under 75 out of the tap so the RODI lasts a long time.

Thanks

Nice corals.Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Gumma, glad I had something to share. Have about 20 more pics to post sometime soon

Thanks sahin, Currently I have back to front

ATI Blue plus
ATI Purple
ATI Blue plus
ATI Aqua blue Special
ATI Aqua blue special
ATI Blue PLus
ATI Blue plus
ATI BLue plus

Its time to replace right now. Have 2 of the new ati coral plus on order, will replace the aquablue special x2 with these then a straight trade for the rest. It may be a little too blue for me but Im gonna try it. Also ordered a KZ 14k new generation and a couple actinics to try out as well.

beauty of a tank. love the rock scape

Thanks vietnam, the piece on the left is a custom made ceramic piece, the one on the right I made myself with LR acrylic rod, zip ties, foam and a lot of dumb luck, I didnt fall in love with the project but it turned out ok

where do you buy your corals from

I have bought coral from just about everyone who sells SPS in Canada, instore and online. Have also aquired many pieces from fellow reefers and grew them from 1" frags. I love ORA pieces but cant legally get them delivered here so we get them from Buffalo when I can get there
We are lucky though here in Ontario, I can go for a 3 hour tour and hit 4 amazing Reef stores, I strike out once in a while but sometimes there are some amazing pieces to be found right here in our backyard. Places like Reef Raft and ORG for me have been very good to me. Back when I was buying heavily I was on the first page of people to call so got some first dibs on stuff more than a few times. Of course this in inviting trouble as well as I was introducing many new pieces without quarantine, not smart and led me to all kinds of trouble. With nothing new being added to the tank I can safely assume I have no unwanted pests as its been months and months with nothing new and no problems.

Thanks everyone

Dwayne

Very nice tank Dwayne.

Can you please provide some more detail on what appears to be x2 rock frag stations located on the back wall in the middle of your tank?

Thanks

Thanks V1

I have two of those frag holders, but only one is in the tank right now. I plan to remove the last one soon. They are great for growing out smaller frags before finding a home for them. I do not like to have SPS on the bottom, much prefer an "open beach" look of white sand. I know this is not a natural look but do not care :)

I got these from Macna in Orlando two years ago.
