Dying hair algae?

I had a bad hair algae in a tank that has been set up for about four months now. Narrowed the problem down to my ro/di filters. Changed filters and did a few water changes over the past month. The hair algae has stopped growing as much and now is brown and easily wiped off surfaces. Does this mean it is dying off? Also how do I clean the small hair algae off my love sand? Thanks in advance.

Yep sounds like it's on the way out. You can vacuum your sand or use a plastic fork or even a plastic strainer like a colander for straining rice etc
