RIP Angel...I love you with all my heart, more than any words can describe. You left me way too soon...A big piece of my heart dies with you tonight.

He's the one up top looking directly at us. He was my little boy for five years. I can't even keep typing.

RIP angel. Stay strong Craig, I'm sure he lived a great life under your care, and thats the best anyone could ask for. :)

Oh no Craig i am so sorry :( !!!! 5 years is a relatively long time to keep a pet and for a ferret I am assuming it was natural causes?

They were so cute and peaceful and snuggled when I saw them at your house I don't know what to say... come to the orca meeting to get your mind off of it tonight.. Are the others okay?

I'll say a prayer for the little one for ya

So sorry to hear about your loss.
I hope time will make it easier to deal with for you.
It is always hard losing a pet. You get so attached to them, it's like losing a child sometimes.
Again, I am very sorry for your loss.
Do you know why this happened? Was it natural or something else?
Sorry for the questions, I am not very familiar with ferrets.

He has been gaining weight the last few weeks...well, he was still looking fine. Then this morning my roomate woke me up(he's a night owl) and told me my ferret was wheezing. He didn't look well at all and was staring through me instead of looking at me. I took him to the vet and they said his blood thickness was at 79% instead of the normal 50%. This was as high as he's ever seen; dog, cat, ferret... He took x-rays and saw a mass in the ferret near the hind legs. From the positioning, it could've been one of three things: a bad clog(very unlikely because of the position in the digestive tract), an absess, or a tumor. If it was either of the last two, it would have been a pointless surgery. If it was the first, there was a possibility they could remove it, but the chance of him surviving surgery would have been slim even if they could fix the problem. Exploratory surgery is harsh at best and he was not doing well, so I had to put him down.

Thanks for all the support, guys. Really, this is the third place I contacted. My mom, my friend, and then this forum...you guys are very impotant to me and it is nice to see that people care.

Craig i really feel for you. Ferrets are so great. Mine passed with simular circumstances and it is so hard. I am really sorry for your loss. Wish words could make it better. My thoughts are with you. Jessie

ive been there as well with my old ferret. damn marshall farms ferrett's, they are the equivalent to a puppy mill and the majority of their animals develop some sort of cancer half way through their lives. the used to live up to 14 years, not anymore. youd have to buy a pedigree animal and not spay or neuter them for at least 6 months.

hang in there man and think of all of the joy you brought each other.
