Looks like we have a good amount of members to really have a great reef club going. Has anyone heard from beefarmer? I am excited to have our first meeting. :)
 
I am still waiting for some feedback from potential members as to what weekend works best for them....as soon as I get an idea of the wekkend and time of day then I will setup all other arrangements, ie food, chairs, meeting place, door prize and anything else....

I believe that they are working out a date for the meeting. Probably going to be sometime in the middle of May. Dont get discouraged. In the mean time maybe we can start posting things we would like to know about. If you need help or just want to tell us something exciting thats happening in your reef. My tank is looking pretty cool at the moment. Lots of cool little critters living in my sand finally. I am always just sitting in front of the tank and watching all the new things growing on my lr. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks i can get a skimmer i so badly need. So how's your guys tanks doing? Any body got some cool pics that they want to share. I need to download the software (as soon as i can find where i misplaced it) for my camera and then ill start posting some.
 
There have been two replies to the question of when is the best time and possable date to meeet. Does that mean only two are interested or the rest can meet anytime?
I have two meeting places lined up just waiting for a date and time to run the dates by the locations owners.
 
hey bee.....farmer... ouch!!! wouldnt want to be a bee farmer:) Anytime is good for me. I can work around any time you guys set up.
 
I spoke with Phillip, He said that having it at that time is bad because of other Clubs meeting around that time...
that might be why the buzz has died around here...

Why don't you guys just have a small get together casually somewhere to swap frags. Nothing formal. Those that do not have frags can still join the fun of talking with fellow reefers.

That's how we started NARC a few years ago. Kyle and I exchanged frags in a shop that is now CRA (in a different location). H@rry, Greenbean and Mariner joined us. I don't recall if Mariner swapped frags with us at that time. We just chatted and had some fun together while checking out the things in the shop. Some of us bought some supplies there. We soon formed NARC. We kept having the informal meeting there once a month after work/school.

You guys got a shop lined up for a meeting. Get the shop to tell you which day is most convenient for them since they have to accommodate you guys. If a few can show up, you got a get together! That would be a good start. Other stuff like deciding on dues and rules will follow when you really need them. Just get together and have a party!

Off topic, but what's a good place for frags, fish, and clean up crew other than PetCo and Pet Depot in Decatur? Recently moved to the Huntsville area from Bham and they have a couple of really good LFS (Aquarium Designs and Aquarium Imports). Thanks guys.
 
FINNALLY SOME LIFE HERE AGAIN!

I think the just meet and be done with it approch is going to be our best option.

I would like it to be at Valley Tropical Fish, just because I work there and can house my stuff there...

Trying to avoid confronting other club meetings...

Its about time we get a meeting in our area... Im tired of driving to and from...

I just got back from Saltwater U3 in Atlanta... It was pretty neat, good presentations... Anthony Calfo was there... as well as several other people doing presentations... the one of Caribean Corals I found really cool...

It was rather small this year... But non-the-less it was interesting.
 
ok guys lets get a current head count on who is still interested in starting this club. i am still interested and would like to round a meeting up soon. i think we should just go ahead and make a time and date and see who can attend. if anything we could have others that make it to the meeting unexpectedly and the more the merrier. once a date is set then we can start to advertise with other nearby clubs and find more thats interested and maybe even post the meeting announcement at the local lfs ..
 
Well... I know at least 4 or 5 people who will be attending...

So how is June the 9th for the meeting? Thats on a saturday and most people will be able to attend because they dont have to work!


And Valley Tropical is the meeting place right?

Kathy is wanting to host this meeting... We will be having a sale on that day too!... Refreshments will also be available for those who would like to stick around a bit longer...

Hopefully by that time I will have the viewing vats PACKED with corals!!!
Ill be making frags for this too....


Any suggestions/comments welcome!
