E.shine LED vs Aqua Illuminations SOL ??

Anyone done a comparison with these? Looks like the E.shine is about 250 plus 90 dollars shipping. Does anyone know how these compare to the AI LEDs and can they be controlled with a Apex Jr?

Chinese junk! And you think they will honor that 3 year warrantee? Stick with AI Sol. American products Are safer, built much better and they will honor the warrantee id need be..........

They're definately Chinese, but then so is alot of the equipment we buy nowadays, including the CREE LEDs a lot of these fixtures, including the AIs I believe, are built with.

I have 2 of thier Aqua Washers and honestly beyond the mounting options I don't have any complaints, they look slick and the price was great.

I haven't had to make a warranty claim so anything I could say about how they handle them would be speculation, just like what Meshwheel said was just speculation, though it wouldn't be a stretch to expect long waiting periods just due to shipping.

If you've got the extra money and you can get the coverage you want without having to buy twice as many fixtures I wouldn't blame you for going with the AIs for peace of mind. Personally to get the coverage I needed with the big name fixtures the cost would of doubled or even tripled compared to what I paid for my ES units, though the light intensity would of been more, I don't need it for my plans.

The AI's are 75x3w and the E.Shine are 100x3w. I was told i would need just one E.shine and i would need two AI's. The tank i am setting up is a 60 gallon cube 24x24x24. There is tons of info out there on AI's but not so much on the E.shine as they are new. If anyone has anymore info such as par levels etc. let me know. Anymore insight would be greatly appreciated. Another point is AI would be 399 x2, and the AI would be 250 plus 90 for shipping. That is a ton less money. Also the E.shine come with 100 x 3W come with 60 degree lens. The AI from what i hear comes with a less broad range. Anyway more input is better. Thanks all for any input you have.

Sorry but these are not junk refering to an earlier post. I have three of the 60w Cree version over my 210 and a buddy has three over his 180. For the cree check it this link

The customer service has been amazing before and after the sale. The response to question and answer where quick. My friend thought he had an issue with one of the power supplies and the company just sent him a new one right away, turn out this was a user error.

Will i be able to run just one of these over my 60 gallon cube? Is it dimmable and is able to be controlled from a Apex Jr.?

The dimmer is nice, it is manual though on the cree ones I bought. I know there is a 4th generation version coming very soon in the next week or so. I believe you can light a 60 gallon with one. Both me and a friend are looking at adding a couple of the aqua washer to our set up and that is when we got told about the 4g coming. There will be different colors and those colors will also be able to add to the washer too. Good company and will to work with you, give them a email. We have been dealing with a person named Robin.

Vadafallon...I am TruePerc's buddy. We bought the E.Shines because we wanted to keep the cost down. They use the same 3W CREE LEDs AI uses. You have an option of using Bridgelux LEDs if you wish to keep the cost down even more. AI are considered the best, but if E.Shine uses the same LEDs, why are AIs better? The E.Shines are extremely well built and the customer service has been outstanding, and they do stand behind their product. I misused one of the dimmers and contacted E.Shine thinking it was defective, and I had a replacement at the door in four days. I consider that good customer service.

I have three 60W CREE LED fixtures over my 180 and find it dim, but I used to have 1080 watts in MH and VHO, so it will appear dim to me. I have had them for two months now and all my corals look great. The 100 X 3W fixture you want to buy will definitely do the job for you, and you will have to dim it down at first, at least until your corals adjust.

P.S., these are not junk.

Since the 100x3w is not dimmable do you think i should go with two of the 50x3w? Do you know if i can use a Apex Jr. to dim these?

Just wondering if you can justify this comment with anything other than your opinion?

It depends on what you are looking for. If you have ever snorkeled in the ocean you notice that the lighting isn't as intense as what many people have in their tanks. My previous set up of 1080 watts (MH + VHO) was very bright and brought out all the colors in my corals, but it was not natural. What I have right now is closer to what you see in nature, but it is not bright enough for me, nor does it bring out all the pop in color that I am looking for. That is why I am looking at supplementing my three 60W CREE with more LED lighting. These however are more than enough to grow and maintain the corals I have. With the new fixtures E.Shine are bringing out they allow you to mix and match white, royal blue, red and UV LEDs. I find with the 60W CREE LEDs when the royal blues are on alone the colors are stunning, but when the whites come on they wash some of that color away. On the extra fixtures I plan on buying I am going to try a 2 to 1 combination of royal blue to white which should add more pop. I might even add a few UV in there. The only problem with this is you never know what you are going to get until you install them.

I don't know what an Apex Jr. is, but if it is a controller and you plug the fixture into an outlet with built in timers, it will work. I have mine all plugged into my ReefKeeper controllers and they work fine.

........ though it wouldn't be a stretch to expect long waiting periods just due to shipping.

I had an issue with maxspect during the whole Finns Reef debacle. Maxspect Trading, direct from China, stepped in and took care of it from a customer service standpoint and I received the components they sent via fedex in 5 days. If they're good with CS, then it's reasonable to expect 5-7 days shipping on something I would think.

I am very interested to hear more about these fixtures. I have a hard time digesting the cost of the AI, or any of the other "high end" LED on the market (Radion, Vertex Illumina, Orphek, etc.) when you can get CREE performance for less money.

I am pretty sure i am going to go with this LED. I will be fully documenting this. :bounce3:
