Hi guys.. I have a question about this Earlei fairy wrasse.. I've been seeing them more and more lately, costing $500+ per fish.. wondering why this specimen is so expensive?

If you look at the lineatus, flame, rhomboid, feminus.. they pack a heavy $$$ because their males look amazing. What about the Earlei? I haven't seen any in person.. Does it turn from red to purple?

and... lastly.. do you think I can keep one in my 150gal?

stocks:
-3 Flame wrasse
-2 Rhomboid wrasse
-1 pintail wrasse
-4-5 Anthias
-1 spot Foxface
-Achillis tang

My recollection is that they are deep water and collected using a closed circuit rebreather.

being deep water, do they do well in typical reef temp 75+?

I tried a few deep water anthias and they just disappear over time

Great fish, beautiful colors and striping. I lost mine of a year and a half during my transfer to my large tank:(
Searching for a new one currently

have a good friend that years back had, to what I believe, was one of the first earli along with females in the USA. Got to see it first hand and although maybe not one of the most striking fish by just looking at when it flashes is incredible. Literally looks like a neon light going off down its back. Never have I seen a display like that! Incredible fish if you have the right conditions to keep it and happy.

I kept a male/female pair for about five years. Great fish, but at that time very expensive. Tanks are/were 75F.
