Anyone been to the ETDC? I just took my students there and was pretty disgusted with the reef tank they have on display by the counter. They also have some other marine tanks and fresh tanks around the back that are in poor shape.
The display tank near the counter is probably a 55g, has a clown, yellow tail damsel and a yellow tang. The clown looks like it has some ich or some other disease and the tang is just pathetic. Missing all but the main spine of it's dorsal. There is NO current through the tank, the pumps intake is clogged and the jet is pointed up at the surface and is barely producing any water. There is a film on the surface and hair algae EVERYWHERE!
The other tanks around the back are also in poor shape. The reef tank has some great coraline algae but hasn't been cleaned in probably two-four weeks. There is anther marine tank that has so much algae on the front glass that you cannot see the fish.
Anyway I didn't know if there is anything anyone can do. I talked to the peoples there and the one lady said that there is a guy who is "supposed" to come in every two weeks and mantain the tank.
I as a new reefer was shocked to see this. So I thought I would bring my issues here.
