Had to share this tool I got to help remove paint As you see in the pic my tank had 3 coats of black paint and with one easy swipe I got this much off in 1/2 hour (unreal) No chemicals no water just (dry) with new razor! No scratches! I love this thing!

Looks like a tool I've seen used for scraping off inspection stickers at repair shops. :)

Yes that's what it is used for. My husband borrowed it from work ,Im going to find out today if I can buy it lol I tried the regular razors with the handles and it does not work. What I love about this is, it's comfy in your hand,it's not flat meaning the blade it's actually positioned on an angle one side is angled upward and the other side is angled downward ,The paint comes off like butter and switching out the blade is so easy.

Think we'd be able to buy one at any glass/auto shop?

when i saw the pic of the tool...i was thinking maybe you got another few inches off...but then scrolling down? NICE.

you could seriously have a blast with this one...i had aquamarine blue on the back of my 55g when i started...i really liked it...but you know the contact paper rolls? there is one that is black marble and another that is black with stars...you just tape it to the back of the tank...depends on what you want...but saw them the other day at Walmart and started thinking outside the box...actually..everything i look at nowadays is, "hmmm...how could I use that in reefing..." lol.

The tool is called a gasket scraper you should be able to buy one at a good automotive parts store. HTH

Shawna,

You just need to man up and hold that razor blade in your hand and deal with the pain! :spin2:

When you said you were doing this with a razor blade, I assumed you were using some type of tool like this. I have a few of these - one I bought at CF to scrape coralline algae off of the inside of my tank. Anyway, I would expect that you should be able to find these at Home Depot too in the paint section. But, if not, the auto parts store will DEFINITELY have something.

All that said, it looks like from the picture that the "back" of your tank is visible from another part of your house. Is that true, or was that just a reflection? If it is, why not leave the back open so that you get viewing from both sides? I think that's like every reefer's dream rather than just having the standard 3-sided view...

i was totally thinking about that when i was there the other day...if you put some nice cabinet doors over the sump area...you could put a bench in there like i have for my 90g and use it as a little viewing area.....we are all decorating your tank space, now....

hahaha Too funny
Nope used HD cheapy razor with the plastic handle in the paint section.
Think your talking about the fish room as I call it and it's not really anything to look at lol

This pic is the front of the tank in the foyer

See the door next to the tank in the pic above it leads to this(behind the tank)

I Imagine I could keep it with no backround. I was thinking something like foam that I could lift off to clean the back of the tank when I needed to ect..
that can be lifted off

whatever you decide...that arrangement you have with the in-wall? something most of us are DROOLING over...

I don't recall you saying that? I do recall you saying (I will never get an in wall!! ) and cursing hahahhaha No need to drool! I'd go back to a regular set up anytime as an inwall is biggest pain in the @@@@@!

drooling over the arrangement.....the big room on the other side....drooling over the IN WALL....no. However....if you were to leave it open on the other side...I may rethink my point of view on your in-wall....because that would be sweet....

Thanks,I know everyone told me to put in an access panel and ....I didn't listen and now Im cursing every time I want to re scape, place corals ect....I still may do it in the spring if I can. We'll have to see how we can do it with the tank in place now.
