Eating Copper Band: not Not Eating, Help!!

Dear Friends,
I have the CBB for about 8 months in my tank and was feeding on frozen brine shrimp.

I have been having Dyno problem, so went with the light's off routine and had the lights off for about 10 days... and now i find that the CBB is not taking any feed... actually in the whole day, it just had one swish at the food and took only 1 frozen BS.

Dont know what the problem is, all the parameters seems alright... is there something wrong?

The Fish has a flat stomach and is swimming slowly only...

Kindly help.. i consider this as my priced possession as it is feeding from Day 1!!!

Brine shrimp is really not the best food to be feeding them, specially as their main diet.

possibly lack of nutrition are kicking in ? did it gain any weight or grow in last 8 months ?

or hopefully he is just stressed form the change in light cycle, in which case he should go back to normal soon.

another possibility could be water's no3 raising due to no light, and making hte fish stressed again, water changes should solve that.

good luck, and try some "entice" or garlic, and try to switch to mysis or pellets. and leave brine as a snack, once in a while.

okie.. will feed mysis, that's available in short quantity here... only frozen BS is available in plenty here in India.

He did grow, by about an inch in size.. not been feeding him regularly during lights off ... feeding only once every 2 to 3 days... may be he is stressed.. but will do a different feed and see.

I didnt know that they Pellets... do they? if so what pellets?

ahh !

have you tried black worms ? I am not sure if you can get them there, but try the freshwater shops, they sometimes have them.

brine shrimp are pointless for a good food source... even the enriched ones offer no real value of nourishment...

Enriched brine shrimp are actually not as bad as people hype. Many breeders use adult brine as a staple. My Copperband ONLY eats spirulina brine enriched with selcon. It won't take anything else. It spends all day grazing for pods/worms/etc, but the only outside food that it will take is the brine. It is fat and healthy and has put on weight since I got it.

Rather than trying to get it to eat something different in a time where it is not eating, try using some garlic with the brine to see if it will take it.
