He claws vigorously trying to tear off tentacles before the Xenia can retract. Caught Him in the act.

I don't see a distinctive hump, but maybe that varies.

Thanks in advance.

It sure looks like one to me. I've had a peppermint shrimp eat a few LPS corals as well. There definitely not the little angels I once thought they were.

Thanks, I'm starting to agree with You. I'm also having problems with zoos staying closed all of the time. I already dipped them; beginning to wonder, but the Xenia, I caught Him in the act trying to shred it like it was an Aiptasia.

Also, camels look sort of hunchbacked, like they were crinkled a little bit in shipping. The gorgeous green/blue eyes are a giveaway that can be a bit harder to spot.
Peppermints have a decent bit of clear space, like that one, and they have a more flowing back.

Okay, I HAVE to get that Dang shrimp outta My tank! ! He's killed One feather duster, tried to shred My Xenia, and reaches deep into My corals throats to steal Their food. I hate Peppermints! Any ideas? I'e researched and tried a lot of things; I feel like Wiley Coyote. Tried the bottle; won't go in. Problem is, I have ALOT of Live rock and hiding places. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Gary

Peppermints are hit or miss, in the past I never had any problems with them. After starting my 75 I got some to get rid of some pests. They got rid of the pests the, then they went after my sps. They now confined to the sump forever.

How did You manage to catch Him? Mine is quick!

Bottle trap. Cut the top quarter off a bottle, shove it in backwards, bait it with something meaty, and lay it on its side in the tank. Shrimp goes in and can't get out. Be sure you poke a few holes for circulation so you don't smother it- he's not being malicious, he's just eating all the food around him.
That or just put a net in the tank with food in it and see if he'll come up and go into the net for the food.

I had two that I found eating my hammer when I came home one night. I caught them after lights out with a net using just a red light. The key is when they are scared they swim backwards. I still took me a while to get them both out of the tank. The first one was quick the second one knew what was coming.

I would start with the bottle trap.

I caught Him!!

The bottle trick worked!

I tried a regular root beer bottle awhile back but he would never go in.
I guess the taper made him feel safer and kinda led him in. Being clear probably helped, too. I am so happy, I can buy more corals with no reservations. I also caught 3 bumblebee snails.

Thanks for the suggestions, Everyone.

Gary.

Well I'm just a lucky person I've got 3 peppermint shrimp with a lot of other risky reef safe things (angelfish, butterfly fish, many crabs) and have never had any problems. Ever. I have clams, feather dusters, all sorts of corals, etc and never had any problems.
