eBay cooling fan kits

The problem with these it the sensor is for AIR temp not WATER temp. Basically, they will come on when your lights come on. Not really precise for temperature control. You are better off saving your money and getting a dual stage temp controller to hook up a regular fan/heater into for perfect temperature control. Oh, no tank needs a chiller. With a controller and a few fans any tank can stay at the right temp.

With my tank set-up right now I don't have much room for mods. I am using an eclipse hood that has been retro-fitted with lights, skimmer, etc. Is there any way of converting the AIR temp sensor into a water sensor?

Could you show me this dual stage temp controller too?

There aren't any exact ways to convert a temp sensor from air to water. I've tried to do it with 2 part epoxy but have had marginal results. Most of the vendors carry dual stage temp controller, or you could go to diyreef.com. They are about $100 or you might be able to get a better deal used or on ebay. Personally, I went with a Neptune Aquacontroller Jr. It cost more than just a temp controller but does so much more. Your corals will be MUCH happier with a more stable temp.
