Sometimes spending two or three times as much is a savings. If you can pick exactly the rocks that are the shape and size you want for where you want them... look to see how many Aiptasia, pest algae, pistol shrimp and nasty crabs you will have to deal with, and worry less about the transit dieoff and resulting ammonia spike, and othe advantages of finding a local source that I'm sure I skipped but others will point out, well then a bargain is not one when you pay less, but get less value, and end up with costly problems you have to solve. OTOH, I'd be glad to get some of the cool live rock we used to see in this hobby back in the 80's, locally or shipped.<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=12468686#post12468686 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by aerius007
