Ebay Powerheads

Wow. Those are cheap. If you are looking for a budget power head but some Jebao ones they are cheap and work well.
 
Have had powerheads from ebay for over a year and they haven't let me down yet. Run 24/7 and they can move water baby!
 
Not me. I guess it's a hit or miss, mine lasted about 6 months. If your trying to save money go jeabo. I have 1 wp25 in my 75g It's on wave1 20% and it rocks my tank. I love this thing. Not to mention it's super quiet.
 
Thanks guys. I am going to look into the Jebaos and do some comparisons on price and reliability. Jeabaos last a long time or are they newer?

For fresh water, you don't want a wavemaker or high current. All you'll need is a gentle current, just enough to move water around. If you notice your plants swaying a lot, you have too much flow.
 
I had a sun-sun koralia knockoff I got from ebay years ago. It ran great until it broke it's ceramic shaft, and I couldn't find a replacement. I ended up modifying the steel shaft from a regular koralia and got a couple more years of service out of it as a salt mixer. It was loud and rattled with the ill-fitting shaft though.

Noise isn't a huge deal for me just as long as you can't hear it through the wall. The tank is in the wall so I can get away with a little more noise. I am not doing a planted tank this will be a cichlid tank. I want to be able to move the particles around enough to get them in the sump to be removed.
 
It was perfectly quiet until the shaft broke. I'd try it if the Jebao's weren't so affordable. The Ebay one I had actually outlasted my genuine Koralias that started leaking voltage. Worst case scenario, you're out $20 and have to find a new pump.
 
They sell these on Amazon as well and one of the brands is Sun-Sun. I have two of them and if you just want a powerhead with no controller, they are great. One is still in my sump now and been running silent and moves a lot of water. I think I paid like $8 a piece for the 1600 gph models.
 
I have these and the only issues I have is the mounts... they suck big time...

and for that reason I would not buy them.
 
can you guys that have these china pumps check to see if the hole for the mount is the same size as the hole on koralia's? its like $8 for the 800gph model with suction cups and then another $12(lol) just for the magnetic mount and i have a couple spare koralia magnets off 750's that i could use.

They were interchangeable on mine.
