i just got my mp40QD, i was amazed on how quiet these new pumps are, until it started to make a grinding noise coming from the dry side of the pump, now its louder then my old Mp40's. I got a hold of EchoTech they said it was normal and that there is a break in period and should go away in one to two weeks. Is any one else experiencing the same noise issue?

No, not normal. I installed two about a month ago and no grinding. They each had sort of a start noise when I first plugged them in. Kind of a quick grind sound which lasted about 2 seconds. But since then they are dead silent. I run them at 70% reef crest all the time, no noise.

That has not been my experience. Mine has been dead silent from the second I turned it on. I'd ask for a replacement.

Mine wasn't silent initially but got better after a few days. Their support is top notch, they'll definitely replace it for you. That said, they'll probably want you to run it for a week before replacing it.

I'm going to see what I can do about getting a replacement. I didn't think it was normal.
