Save your $$$ those things do nothing. They are a tube with magnets taped to it. IMO spend more on a skimmer.

I have one my tank that I have used since its setup. I can't honestly say wether or not it actually does anything, but my animals have all thrived since I have set up my tank. It may help a little, but I think it is very possible to be successful without one. I would set the tank up without one first and spend the extra money on lighting or a good skimmer.
