Ecoray 60D

Joe at Saltwater Paradise in Tonawanda has one up over a cube tank, and it has been there for a few months - he will tell you what he thinks of it, plus you could go and check it out yourself. It is not bad, but due to the individual lenses, it is quite focused and powerful, so I believe it has to be up away from some tanks - depending on depth and species kept of course as there is no dimming.

What would be a recommended height over a tank?

Well, have to consider a lot of variables. The manufacturer's page you linked gives some detail, but I have to question some of their statements, such as LPS need a minimum of 150+ PAR - seems a little high to me. Their is a review on the Captive Aquatics blog about this fixture (11/16/2010), and it was also discussed right on this forum last February and March, you should be able to find it by searching.

It was discussed how this fixture lacked the quality and adjustablility of higher-end fixtures such as the AI SOL's, and since those units have come down, maybe you could look into one of those as well - a SOL would be my choice if it came down to it.

You should list the dimensions of of your tank and the inhabitants - it will help with further suggestions. Good luck!

I saw a picture of one of these suspended 6 feet (yes, feet) over a tank because of how narrow the lenses are on these fixtures.
