By now you've probably read about EcoTech's next revolution in the LED lighting world. The Radion XR30w G2 provides the same color, more light, and does so more efficiently and a lower price point than ever before.

We assume there will be a few questions and will do our best to answer them. As usual there will be some stuff that we simply can't answer, so please bare with us.

Below you can find a link comparing the G1 and G2 Radions including PAR charts, peak PAR and average PAR numbers for all permutations of XR30w available. Additionally there is pricing information about the upgrade itself:

Hi Tim,
I currently own 10 Gen1 XR30Ws and love them. Do you have any information about the upgrade path from the Gen1 to the XR30wPRO? Eight of my Radions are over a 465 gallon SPS tank, and I would probably be more interested in upgrading to the PRO for the extra LED colors. Thank you.
Dave

Curious as to whether or not there has been any discussion on a price drop for the Pro's? Possibly to $849? Not sure that I can justify the $300 premium for the Pro (times 3 fixtures = $900 difference for me). Just curious. I am getting ready to make a decision on my lighting and would love to go with the Pro's but simply can not justify the $300 premium.

As I wrote in another thread... I am a huge EcoTech fan, so don't mistake this for complaining. Simply stating my position and wondering if the Pro might get a more realistic price tag.

There are no specific details about the Pro upgrade yet, however the upgrade for both the Pro and the G2 model will be available at approximately the same time (subject to change, naturally) during Q1, 2013. The pricing for the G1 to G2 upgrade is provided at the above link and the timing for G2 launch is by the end of November as was stated in the press release.

Thank you for the information and the quick response. The SEP sounds like a great option, and the one I will use.

Definitely more interested in upgrading to the Pro version instead of the G2. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

On the SEP option, if we use a debit card, does this option take out the money and puts it back into the account? I think debit card charges can't be places on hold, they just get charged. I just ask in case they take the money out right away, I have enough in there

Their SEP program is outstanding. I've used it for my MP60. Their customer service and tech support are excellent and is one of the reasons I'd like to buy their lights too.

I agree that the SEP program is fantastic! Now we need some more info on the pro upgrade! The G2 lights look great but I don't think it would be worth it for me personally.

With some reported intermittent fan failures, will units used in the SEP program have their fans checked before shipping? Will there be any sort of a warranty in case the light I get has a fan that was treated worse then I treated mine?

Hey Tim
So this is my understanding please correct me if I am wrong.

Their is no reason to wait for the Pro or the Gen 2 if we want a light now for the new price drop correct? Anyone will be able to upgrade to the Pro or Gen 2 with an added cost with no issue? Also will it be more budget friendly to wait for the Pro or the Gen2 vs. upgrading and Gen1

Basically should we hold out if we want the Pro or Gen 2 or does it not make a difference?(Other than cash of course)

If you want a light now, the G1 Radion at $599 is an AMAZING deal and will only be available while supplies last. You can then upgrade to a G2 or a Pro at a later date, the cost for which has only been disclosed on the G1 to G2 path, $150. There is no pricing for the Pro upgrade at this time.

If you get the G1, you can upgrade to the G2, the Pro or enjoy it for a few years and wait to see what the upgrade options are then! It really comes down to a personal preference. The G1 light has been growing a lot of coral quite effectively for a year now.

If we do the SEP program for the Pro upgrade (when available) are we actually getting a pre-owned radion? I can't imagine EcoTech would have a bunch of used Pro units.

um, if you follow the SEP program, you get someone ELSE's light which they upgraded the LED pucks, so yes, you will get a used fan....
This is false information; you would not receive a used unit through the SEP program if you are upgrading your G1 XR30w.
