EcoTech Marine Radion XR30w G2

Yea!!! I am looking forward to upgrade!! How about my warranty question Jon? I got my G1 on 1/2012. And if I upgrade to the Pro? Will the warranty still expires on 1/2012 or will it be extended?

Thank you

same question....7/12 10/12..lol for me
Details??

So thru the SEP program you are giving users 100% NEW and unused units (which one could theorize would have a full warranty)? Not refurbished units?

For example, If I take advantage of the SEP program, I get a new light, what happens to my old light which I return to Ecotech?

Still waiting for an answer to this one and confirmation that the SEP program provides 100% new units with full warranty program to participants.

I was considering the lens upgrade for my three G1, however, I will likely upgrade to the pro when they are available next year. Will the lenses be used in the Pro, or, am I wasting my money? I noticed they are being used in the G1-G2 upgrade path.

Your fixture will carry with it its original warranty however the clusters will come with a new two year warranty.

The SEP programming will utilize refurbished lights. This potentially means used Radions that have been brought up to 100% new spec, including replacing the fan unit and of course new LEDs. The firmware will be updated to the latest as well. There will be a scratch standard for lights used in the SEP program that is up to the typical standard that you'd expect for an EcoTech Marine product, but lower than a brand new Radion.

If this program is not for you because of the above, the RMA is the best option. For the same price you simply send in your light and we outfit it with the G2 or Pro upgrade, at your discretion, then send back your light to you.

There will be a G1-to-G2 path and a G1-to-Pro path that is discounted by $30 for those people who already own TIR lenses. Therefore there's no reason not to buy TIR lenses now as there is a considerable improvement with G1 Radions running TIR lenses.

Quote from Jon on 11/3/12 in this thread: This is false information; you would not receive a used unit through the SEP program if you are upgrading your G1 XR30w.

A bit of a contradiction IMO. It seems like the SEP program was too good to be true.

Ghostman-
There is a difference between a used unit and a refurbished unit. We do not just plop one person's light into another's hands. There is a quality controlled refurbishing process and the units are neither used nor new. Moreover the SEP upgrade path is not even available yet and won't be until 2013. Things change in the dynamic world of manufacturing; We are upfront with our information to the best of our ability and that's the end of that. Moreover, there will be new Radions also added to the SEP pool, though I doubt you'd actually be able to tell the difference between one and a refurbished unit.

I appreciate your input as always, but if I'm not mistaken you do not own a Radion LED any longer. However I see you posting a lot on this thread, as well as others about the Radion LED extolling your dissatisfaction with how we do things, especially relating to ESL.

In the words of the RC mods, "if you have a hatchet to bury then this is not the place." We are watching your postings and so are the moderators.

Tim,
I don't have a problem with a refurbished light basis for the SEP, as any unit I send will be used anyways.

My question is will there be a warranty for units exchanged via the SEP Program? I would expect a comparable new unit warranty for the money I will pay for the upgrade, which should be a reasonable expectation given the SEP units are at 100% spec. Thanks.
Dave

Apple, which in my opinion has the best warrantee replacement program ever, also uses refurbished units. In my opinion, this is a non point. Ordered my TIR lenses from my local guy. I have actually been so pleased with the units so far I have totally gotten over the whole Profilux integration thing.

I'm really happy you're pleased, we've worked hard on the Radion, but the best aspects of it in terms of control are yet to come. The next release of ESL is going to be stable, easy-to-use and offer a few new features. More features will come after that. Integration with third party controllers will be pretty moot soon enough too.

Tim, thank you for the information. Honestly I forgot whats the warrenty period for my G1. Was it one yeary for the unit and 2 years for the bulb?

My concern is I have 2 working units, and if its one year warranty on the G1, by the time I get my upgrade. I dont have any more warranty for the 2 units, and I will pay a couple of hundreds for the upgrade and who knows what will happen during transits of the units.

If i can suggest, maybe for the one like us that do the upgrade, we get some kinds of warranty extendsion? Maybe 2 month extra for the G2 upgrade, and 4 months for the pro upgrade? If nothing happens then we are all happy, but if something happens, your customers are covered and taken care of, like Ecotech always has. Since, if there are more future updates, I am sure many of the G1 customers would like to upgrade again. And all will have no more warranty. Just a suggestion.

Ummm....when i get a Ipad replaced the day before my warranty expires. I do not get an extension when they hand me a "refurbished" ipad. I am sure if a highly unlikely situation arrises, it will be handled on a case by case basis.

Eastamherstbias, true in a way. And I do agree that ecotech does a good job taking care of the customers.

But i do have two scenarios that i would like to have your thought.

If one of the unit I have broke, and I have to mail it in and get an refurbished one, then yes I dont expect to have an extension. Like you said, your ipad broke or its not in working condition. You got nothing to loose by mailing it in and getting a refurbished one. How about they (just assume you are the unlucky one) happened to mail you a none working ipad back, and its already over your warranty period, what will be your thought? Dont you expect to get a working ipad back?

And another scenerio, after your warranty, you have to mail in your ipad for an upgrade and pay a couple of hundred dollars, wouldnt you want some kind of protections?? What if like I said, something happens during the transit and you are the unlucky one, and you got a broken one because something happened in between then what will be your thoughts on this? Do you expect to get a working unit back? Or are you going to pay a couple of hundreds out to have the units repaired, because something happened during transit? But you mailed in a perfectly working ipad.

Sorry if I sound like im greedy, but I just want to make a suggestion.

Also I love the radions, thats why i hate to loose them.

Just thought of another suggestion. How about a warranty extension program for a fee. Like buying TV, they always ask if you want the additional 2 years, 3 years and etc.

So for us that is over on the warranty, and do an upgrade, if we can buy additional warranties, then we will all be covered. Ecotech can be sure to bring in income, and customers doing the upgrade can be protected for the extend warranty period they purchase.

Just a thought.

If there is an issue, I am sure it will be handled on a case by case issue, just the way Apple does it.

We should be happy there is an upgrade path. Ipad 3 was rendered obsolete in 7 months and there is no upgrade path.

Ecotech could have just released Gen2/Pro and left us in the dust but they offered a nice way to get the latest tech. The problem with tech is that there is always something better on the way. Chasing the tech dragon is a fun and annoying ride.

I am sure they will take care of us. I agree, its annoying and costly chasing the tech dragon.

I know, apple products are not upgradable and thats not their selling feature, i am just using it as an example, since you mention it.

But one of the selling feature for Radions are the upgradable feature. Thats why i love it so much. Since New LED technology comes out as fast as new iproducts! :lol2: , we need to be able to upgrade from G1 to any new models. And I am sure we all would have a model we like to settle down to.
