Hey guys, I have a mp40 that's about 6 years old. It's been slipping down in the back of my tank and won't stay in place causing the wet side to get noisy. I took it off and found no rubber spacer on the dry side. My question is, do I need to replace the magnet? Or just replace the spacer? The glass is 1/2 inch thick.
Thanks,
Steve

Take the wetside out and check the metal rod for the impeller, if it's bent then that is your problem. You'll have to take the wetside apart. Had a similar issue with my mp40

I ended up ordering a new wetside. I took this one apart and I don't think I put it back correctly, As soon as the pump starts, the dry side falls off the tank and the wet side shakes violently.

I have an extra if you want to borrow it until the new one comes in. I keep an extra wetside for cleanings.

Thanks, I should be okay, I'm running a Hydor Koralia in the meantime. Ecotech called me back and said I should have had cable ties holding the dry side in place. There's no place to secure it, just the cable going into the pump.

The pumps come with a plastic eyelet with double sided tape you are supposed to mount above the pump. You then tie-wrap the cord to that. You can call ecotech and order some, or you could probably find something similar at radioshack.

I had the same exact issue. I forgot to put back that little round rubber disk on the outside. Its that sillicone disk you place between your dryside and your glass. Dont know the name of it. Similar to those silicone sticky things they sell at auto p arts stores to place on your dash and put your cell phone on to keep it from sliding around.
