Ecotech MP40w QD DRY SIDE issue

i got this pump about 2 months ago and it started to make lots of noise and when I tried to verify the dry side, I almiost burned myself with it. It is obviously the dry side as I plugged it briefly after it cooled down, a few hours later without the wet side and the noise was still present. I believe it is defective. Is this a recurring problem?

I bought two MP10W QD's when they first came out. One was super quiet and ran slightly warm.

The other one sounded like the end of the world and ran super hot. I ran it on the green setting with only one light. Every other day I would increase intensity one light.


Needless to say it took approximately six weeks to break in properly. I think they forgot to test mine at the factory hence the long break in time.
