Ok, Iceman. :)

I love mine. I have 2 of them, one on each end of my 150. I have them set in ReefCrest mode, which means they vary speed, ramping up and down to different levels of power. It may go to 30%, then back down, then to 80% then back down, then 50% then down, then 100% ....etc. I have them set on anti-sync linked together wirelessly. Anti-sync means they do the exact opposite of what the other one is doing at any given time. You can also sync them the same, making them do the same things at once. I find it helpful occasionally to run them both wide open 100% at the same time for a few minutes to stir up detritus and stuff for export to skimmer, or before water changes. There is also a nutrient export mode that does something similar. For those that like waves, you can set them to pulse and create a back and forth wave motion if you like. With the motors being outside the glass, it saves me heat, which I like since I have 750w of halides bearing down on my water. Pricey, but worth it to me, especially with my SPS that likes random flow. I have not found anything that I don't like about them yet. They are quiet, and are very easy to clean. And the adjustability is endless.

We have one MP40 on our 180 we plan on getting another one. One of the greatest things I like about it is that you have several options on how you would like the current. Another thing I like about it is that there is no heat since it only has the propeller on the inside. I have one MP10 on my 35 and that is really all I need. These things have so much power I put mine both the MP10 and MP40 on about half. The one down side to it is that if you don't clean it out it can get stuck then create some problems and sometimes those are hard to fix.

Have one MP40ES on my 120g and it's all that is using, besides return. All the modes are great and looking forward to getting another. Can also get a piece for the Apex conrtoler to use with the pumps!

I echo all of the praise listed above. I have owned both an MP40W and a MP10 currently. The MP10 on full blast in my 50G will suck the corals off the rocks if I let it. I keep it at 80% Reefcrest mode. What I like best is the Vortech create a very nice undertow that helps keep the sand clean or blowing all over your tank if you wish. Just pull the trigger if your considering buying one or four - you won't regret it. Also - look for lightly used here and save some dough. Ecotech's warranty is trasferrable to new owner if under the 1-year mark.
