I really like it Ed. The idea sounded great and you managed to make it look very logical and natural.

Thanks Leo - yeah it's hard to see it now but once the moss and plants takes over it will look like a lost island lol

How's France??

When are you going to rescape yours??

Thanks LL - you guys are giving me so much ideas my head is spinning

Might need to figure out a way to do that?? Problem is my reservoir is about 3m away from the rock. You think an aqua lifter will be powerful enough to lift water that distant - 2m parallel and 1m upwards?

I have no experience with AquaLifter. But it would be cool to have water trickle out of an opening in the rock and into the tank. If you have a slow steady trickle from your ATO pump, that would be very interesting...

The scaping looks great! Truly one of a kind!

There is nothing wrong with your rock layout; it's is just that the rock textures don't match and it confuses the eye. This is just my humble opinion, but if you match all the rocks above the water to the bottom one, it will look more natural like a shelf reef between a lagoon and mangrove shore.

P.S. - You should add some lightfoot rock crabs so they can crawl in and out of the rock.:D

Read my thread Ed! ;) I already rescaped a few months ago and yesterday decided to quit the tank.
France was great, unfortunately it's back to work and study for some months now ;) In April I will go to China for more then a month, if you would like it I can stop by.

True but to create a waterfall, I would either need some solid granite rocks (which weight is my challenge) or used fiberglass rock works (which will look too artificial for my liking)

I'm hoping once this porous rocks start to get some moss and plants growing, it will bend in and look more natural and less 'out of place' :D

That's true on the different texture (the darker texture is fiberglass) but I'm hoping overtime the rocks above will grow out with green moss and plants and only thing visible will then be the fiberglass rocks and it should then blend in. :p

Good idea on the rock crabs there lol

Water parameter udpates…..

Water parameter udpates"¦..

And did my usual weekly 10% WC and check my water params as below:

"¢ Temperature "“ 26.4 degree C (light on for 7-8 hours)
"¢ Salinity Gravity "“ 34.5ppt (up from last week 34)
"¢ pH "“ 8.42 (light on)
"¢ NO3 "“ 0.00 (Salifert Test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ PO4 "“ 0.03 (D&D Test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ dKH "“ 8.0 (API test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ dKH "“ 8.0 (Elos test kit "“ drop from last week 8.5)
"¢ Ca "“ 430 (Salifert test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Ca "“ 0.000 (Elos test kit "“ ran out of testkit)
"¢ Ca "“ 440 (API test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Mg "“ 1290 (Salifert test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Mg "“ 1250 (Elos test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Potassium "“400 "“ 410 range (Kz Test kit "“ same as last week)

I did the testing this time around late in the evening (after my lights has been on for a good 7-8 hours) and I'm please to see the results are basically the same as last week when I tested when the lights was off.

My PO4 is still hanging in the 0.03 level and didn't come down yet so took out my Zeo reactor pump to check and found that the pump is stuck with a lot of debris and this could cause less water flow through the reactor and causing the zeolite less affective so I dismantle it and gave it a good wash so hopefully now it will start to come down again.

I'm starting to like my API testkit BUT don't use their test tube that comes along with the set. I use instead Salifert plastic test tube and it mixed much better with more accurate results.

Other params are spot on but I will try to raise my Mg level a little to the 1350 level.

:lol2:

Glad your liking the API. They are so easy use it makes you wonder if your doing it right or if the results are accurate. They are also so cheap it makes you wonder if they are worth buying. I use API after salifert's inaccurate readings. What a waste of money.

Thanks Josh - yeah the results are much closer when you used a larger test tube (the API testtube is too skinny)

I'm so please as this means BIG saving on testkit for me lol as I test basically weekly :spin2:

Ed,
Just wanted to say that your new tank set-up is spectacular. I've enjoyed following along; your last set-up gave me a lot of inspiration for my new set-up which can be seen here:

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1711934

Don't get me wrong - this is not a hijack - but you can obviously see your influence in my new set-up. Thanks for documenting your work so thoroughly and giving me some great ideas!

Brad

Thanks Brad - you got yourself one beautiful mix reef there and I LOVE it.... nice scape and very well planned....

The plan vs. Reality

The plan vs. Reality

OK, I decided to do a recap on the whole planning and see how close I achieve my dreams and goal combine.

The Dream:
Dream is to create a natural set-up combining of mountain, sea, plants, fishes and corals "“ all in one
