WATER PARAMETER UDPATES…..

WATER PARAMETER UDPATES"¦..

And did my weekly 10% WC and check my water params as below:

"¢ Temperature "“ 26.3 degree C (light off)
"¢ Salinity Gravity "“ 33.1ppt (down from last week 33.9ppt)
"¢ pH "“ 8.16 (light off)
"¢ NO3 "“ 0.00 (Salifert Test kit "“ same as last same)
"¢ PO4 "“ 0.00 (D&D Test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ dKH "“ 9.0 (API test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ dKH "“ 9.0 (Elos test kit "“ up from last week 8.0)
"¢ Ca "“ 400 (Salifert test kit "“ down from last week 410)
"¢ Ca "“ 460 (Elos test kit "“ up from last week 410)
"¢ Mg "“ 1140 (Salifert test kit "“ down from last week 1200)
"¢ Mg "“ 1300 (Elos test kit "“ same as last week)
"¢ Potassium "“390 "“ 400 range (Kz Test kit "“ same as last week)

I need to get new Salifert Ca and Mg testkits next week as the current one I'm using is close to expiry and the results are funny.

My Ca test results with Elos makes more sense with the increase of my dKH reading. I've now lower my CO2 count and the Ca Rx effluent drip so this should bring down both my Ca and dKH accordingly.

Darn"¦I hate fine-tuning a Ca Rx. Balling is so much easier IME but I'm slowly getting there (I think).

I think I'm going to try to keep my Salinity at 34 to 34.5ppt range as this should keep my dKH and Calcium levels near NSW

Meanwhile, got another sad news"¦my Rainbow Wrasse did carpet surf on me. Found him dried up on the floor next to the tank this morning
:mad2:

Oh well one less bully in the tank"¦..

I should have said wrasse love to jump out of tank. I know you already knew that.Take it slow on your CA RX adjustment. I really impress that you able to your maintain your PO4 down to 0.00.

Yeah I know...i need to move my lazy bud and get working on a plan to stop surfers lol !!

So far Po4 been good ever since i reduce slightly my carbon dosing and up my bac dosing... IME, it's trying to find that right balance of carbon dosing to suit your tank needs...

Dosing Iodide?

Dosing Iodide?

Potassium Iodide Fluoride Concentrate (PIF)

My Potassium Iodide Fluoride Concentrate (PIF) arrived in the mail today so will start dosing from this evening"¦.

I will start off the first 2 days with 16 drops daily and then cut down to 8 drops 2x/week so I'm going to dose it on days I'm not dosing AAHC and Iron Concentration.

Note:
For those who is thinking of dosing Iron and Iodide in their tank, make sure you have nil No3 and PO4 and no algae issues for a couple of weeks as these things can cause an algae and cyano boom if we're not careful.

I also order another bottle of B-balance as mine is close to finished lol"¦.

Will keep everyone update how well PIF works in bringing out the blues in my corals in a month's time.

Ed sorry to hear about your surfing wrasse...that really sucks.

I did enjoy the pics you took of the tank...I am loving that clam. All I see here are really really tiny maximas and croceas lately.

Are you going to use some netting to cover the tank? Do you think that will take away from the look or "art" of your system? I am interested to see what you will come up with if you decide to keep fish from jumping.

Oh yeah still waiting for some pics of what it looks like outside where you live there.

thanks,

Tom

Have not forgotten about the city surrounding pictures... need to find time to take some lol....

Meanwhile on the netting, the easy way out will be the standard tank top cover but will look ugly so I'm thinking of something else instead!! :p

How about a cage that fits around the top of the tank like they do for the UFC events or like they have for trampolines?

That would be the easy way of doing things  but the problem is the island I'm planning over the overflow will make the task a lot more challenging so I'm thinking something else lol....

This time I will leave it be but will also keep a close eye to see if it's chocking my coral in anyway.

How good is that, Ed. Magic!

BTW just bought myself an ATB Deluxe cone skimmer from Anton for the 2000L tank ;)

Tone :)

Darn...you guys with the cone.... just makes me envy you all more!! I need to save up for one of those one day !!

Quick updates"¦..

Just to keep this thread alive, a quick update:

My old ATO broke down on me so guess I need to find time to get replacement.

Fishes and corals seem to be adapting well and the good news is my Dinos never came back and my diatoms are slowly getting lesser by the day as I build up on my good bacteria.

So far started dosing PIF and hopefully I can see some positive results in a week or two time!!

:D

Keep me posted on PIF.

Will do....elijaher.

Tonight is due for my 3rd dosing of PIF. So far the blues seem to be coming out (not sure if it's me staring too hard.... lol)

Will post pictures in two weeks time to see the difference, if any in the corals !!
