Iodine Dosing Results – 2 Weeks…..

Iodine Dosing Results "“ 2 Weeks"¦..

OK, how does dosing Iodine really affect our hard corals color??


Well I took some progression picture so you be your own judge"¦

This piece shows the most changes to the Iodine dosing"¦. You can see the background colors of the other pieces also showing more blue"¦

Hard to tell from the pictures but the body is now a mixture of Green/ Blue hue so it's becoming very unique.

I think I need to move this piece more towards the lights to see if it colors up better!!

More Corals affected by Iodine dosing

These are some of the other corals that also seem to benefit from Iodine dosing"¦

and a close-up....

These pieces are also benefiting from the Iodine dosing IMO

Now have to balance between Blue and Green as I don't wanna ended up with too blue or too green a tank lol

Thanks Brian - yeah not sure if the pictures capture the changes but for sure iodine has some affect on em colors...

I used Kz Potassium Iodine Concentrated (PIF).

For the first 2 days I dose 16 drops each and then follows by 8 drops 2x/ week

Do you test for iodine levels?

No I don't as I don't see any testkit out there that's accurate for iodine testing, including salifert lol

So basically if too much blue = reduce dosing!

I am using Kent iodine and follow the bottle's instructions - about 5ml per 50 gallons each week... I guess I should be looking for changes in the blue SPS coral?

Watch your glass panels - if you're getting more than your usual green dust on there, reduce your dosage lol

Let me know well it works for you...
