Iāll be curious to find out your opinion of the ReefBars. I bought a cheap moonlight light strip off him on eBay and was a bit underwhelmed with the output. But, like I said, I bought the cheapest one he offered. He definitely has excellent customer service.
I picked up three of the smaller 10ā strips. Since I have smaller tanks. Two just blue ACINTIC and one thatās is both Blue/White. I was going to add a one to my 32 for added BLUE but wasnāt sure which yet until I got them. The other Iām adding to my smaller 12g Nano.
I have one of the blue strips just sitting across the front of the nano right now (along with the stock lights. So far I like them. Iām planning to pick up a PAR meter and run some before after readings.
I wasnāt sure what I needed or wanted, so I also grabbed two controllers and two Sunsetter controllers. All I could get the basic controller to do was flash so I am probably doing something wrong. I tossed it aside for now and plugged in a sunsetter controller. Iām still figuring it out, but I like how it comes plug/play and you can just select 1-2-3-4 preprogrammed and go. The weather features are pretty cool affect on it where you can create a natural looking cloudy day or a storm. I also grabbed a couple of splitters, the bars came with an in wire and an out connecting wire to stack a strip.
I havenāt played with any on the 32 cube yet. Right now as a FOWLR the stock LED lights appear to be just fine. Iāll see once I get my PAR meter how well I can get them to work.
21LED pros so far out of the box
- the clean simple look
- they donāt get hot but I am also at low 40%
- like you can adjust the intensity
- the cost is affordable for LEDs
- the Sunsetter controller so far is a PLUS
āpre-programmed settings
CONS (ONLY because I barely read anything yet)
- canāt figure out the basic controller YET
- probably overbought more than I actually need
His sight is sort of like an Ala carte light supplier over an actual aquarium place. I did send an email with what I plan to do and suggestions of what wires I needed. Never heard anything back for a couple weeks. I wasnāt even sure if he was still in business but I saw a couple recent reviews so just dropped the order in. The cost for me wasnāt an issue. At worse I have a lot of spare parts now. LOL
IF these end up giving me good PAR readings by themselves, I might even consider upgrading the full BIOCUBE stock led with a few strips of these as an option down the road. The 10ā strips work well for the tank. Two of my small nems seem to puff up more since Iāve had them. Here is a pic with and without the lens filter under the ACINTIC led.
