It's not a Kidako. See if you can get any other pics. White margined morays have a white line on the back but I never saw one so pronouced nor with so much pattern. Also white margined have a little different body shape. How big is it? Looks pretty small. Could be one of the not often seen, yet to be named ones but you got me curious.

Its a lfs, I'll ask if they know where it came from. I was really hoping it was a Kidako until I got the pictures, and I dont want to buy something that I may not be able to house properly or if its even worth the money.

Looks like no more pictures, they just e-mailed me and said that it was sold. Hopefully the person didnt have their heart set on a Kidako. But I have a lead on another eel from another vendor that from the picture I saw looked similar, this one is labeled as a Richardson's Moray. Collected from Luzon Island in the Phillipines, about 11". I cant tell if it has the white dorsal fin, since it's just a headshot but otherwise the coloration is very similar.

I dont think the one in the pic is a Richardson's, possible but pretty sure it's not. I have one that I bought a couple weeks ago, it has the salt and peppering like the pic you posted but no whitish line down the back like in your pic. The head shape is definatley about right though. If I see mine out today I'll try to take a picture and also get a look at it looking down somewhat. There are not many pics around of them so I really don't know how variable the color and pattern can be.

Hows your Richardson's? I havent been able to find much information other than that it grows only to 13" and not often collected. I'm not sure if this one has the white down the back, waiting on pictures. Now the original one, I'm not sure what is going on because it is still listed for sale but the price did drop. Debating just going and buying it, but still worried that it will end up getting to big for me.
