Egg crate cover

Hi all!

Just wanted to know where those of you who have egg crate/screening on your tank purchased it. What size did you get? I saw a kit online for a DIY screen top netting cover, but wanted to know if there are other options. I recall reading years ago that someone locally was making them, anyone know who this is/was? Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

What size tank? I'm located in ft laud. Id be glad to help, super easy. I bought everything from Home Depot (for my 90) did a screen top, ran me about 15 bucks I believe.

Depending on what you have in the tank, I would avoid using egg crate over the tank. It is a "Light Diffuser"

I didn't want screen or anything between the light and the water...even clear screen reduces light and air flow as it collects dust and salt creep ( more maintenance )..so I use egg crate but I use it over the top of my light. My light hangs from the ceiling and I built a simple wooden light canopy to keep the light from blinding me because the tank is elevated to eye level. The egg crate sits on the edge of the light and the edge of the canopy, lifts off easily for service and I have a piece for each side. We have a Wrasse and he likes to sky dive and the egg crate keeps him in the tank :-)

Thanks for all of the replies! I have a standard 90g and unfortunately I don't think a canopy is an option (I have a coralife fixture - 2x150w MH with PC actinics). I've wanted a canopy for a long time since the lighting is fairly bright...next tank I guess, lol.

Kyle and Manfredo - are you two happy with the netting cover? Are you having any light/maintenance issues with it? Kyle - that would be awesome if you could help me out!

do not use the egg crate as a dt cover it is designed to diffuse light directly go to boat owners warehouse and get a used cast net then stop by home depot and get the screen molding and its done takes about 15 min and its cheep
