Eggcrate Clarification

I used the search function and found conflicting answers (surprise surprise) to the question of whether or not the thin side of eggcrate should face up toward the light or down toward the tank.

Either way will probably be better than glass - which I end up constantly cleaning.

So, which is it - Thin Side Up or Thin Side Down - and why?

if you put the thin side up it directs more light into the tank. with the thick side up it defuses the light
