Eheim 1262 for a return pump on a 210?

I'm currently planning out the equipment for a 210 gallon AGA tank. I'm not sure which interal return pump that I should use in my sump. I was thinking about getting a Mag 12 or Mag 18 but I hear that they add a lot of heat to the tank. I looked into the Quiet One pumps but I hear they have restarting issues. I noticed that some people on hear are using a Eheim 1262 but looking at their specs, it only produces 900 gph of flow. Is that enough for a 210? Can you recommend a good internal return pump for a 210? By the way, I will be using 2 Tunze 6100 for flow in the display.

I have a mag18 on my 210. With it plumbed external to the sump, it adds 2 degrees to the water temp. I would not recommend that pump at all.

I was eyeballing a Sequence Dart as a replacement. It really depends on how much flow you want through your sump.

I've read good things about the Sequence Dart pumps. If I was looking for an external pump, I would probable get one.

I don't really want a high flow through the sump. I want most of the flow to be in the main tank.

I'm finishing off my 345 at the moment and am running 2 X 1262's as my return pumps. Little heat, very reliabe and economical to run. The majority of flow in my tank will be produced by vortech pumps.

I'd definitely go with the eheim as a return. You only need as much flow through the sump as the skimmer will handle.

Adjustable Dart

Adjustable Dart

All of our pumps can be valved back (on the discharge side)....the result is lower flow, lower watt useage and longer motor life (our motor suppliers swear its true). Why do this because a Dart is not expensive to begin with and it draws only about 140 watts before valving back AND everyone always adds to their system, and when you do you are good to go (3 year bumper to bumper warranty gives you time)..you could also look into our new Snapper pump 1/3 less flow, 1/3 less wattage...premium and custom Aq have 'em

It's hard to find a good internal pump for something like that. I would not recommend a Quiet One. Mags are good pumps but people claim they run warm and add a good amount of heat. They don't make them anymore but the Dolphin DP-1200 is probably ideal for you. If you decide to go external, I would say look at the GenX or Coralife pumps.

Love my 1262's. I have 3 of them through out the house. It should be good as your sump only pump. Won't add any currents a tank that large. Silent, cheap to run, no heat.

I use a Quiet One 6000 as my return on my 210 tank. It maybe the exception, but I have had no restart issues with it with almost a year in use.

I use a single 1262 for the return on my 215 and am I am very happy with it. Sump flow should be 3-5 times tank volume per hour IMHO. The 1262 fits that profile nicely for your tank and it is reliable, quiet, and efficient.
