What size is the tube on the pressure side, 5/8" ?

How do I get that hooked up to my 1" return line?

Thanks,
Dave

If I recall correctly you can plumb the pressure side with the 1" barb, or the 3/4" barb. I used 1" tubing and the 1" barb. You can get a 1" barb for your return pipe at home depot to plumb it in. Alternatively, the threads are 3/4", and you can screw in a 3/4" to 1" fitting and then plumb normal schedule 40 or schedule 80 to the bulkhead. I'd recommend flexible because it is a lot quieter than when I had it plumbed with pipe. I'd also recommend using a union in the plumbing regardless of whether you go with flexible tubing or hard pvc.

I thought they were metric?

me too???

I found some 5/8 tubing that fits great and some 5/8 barb to 3/4 thread at Menards.

I bushed my 1" down to 3/4" , it looks and works great!

Thanks
Dave

Are you sure you are talking about the 1262? They have odd sizes (metric?) on the smaller pumps. The 1262 has 3/4" threading on the input and the output. Both barbs are 3/4" threaded but one is 3/4" on the barb end, and the other is 1" on the barb end. I think I used 5/8 on my 1250.

1260 and 1262 came with a 3/4 barb inlet which I used 1" ID tubing

The outlet on both takes 5/8 ID tubing perfectly.

You've got me confused. I have both the 1262 and the 1250. Here is a marinedepot link that shows the input and output sizes:

http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_pumps_eheim_universal_hobby_powerheads.asp?CartId=

I have the tubing right in front of me, and the 1262 (a 900+ gph pump) uses either a 3/4" or 1" barb on the output end (they are interchangable with the same size threading), or you can plumb using 3/4" threaded fittings (I tried both). The 1250 (a 300+ gph pump) uses 1/2" output barb. The barbs are not interchangable on this pump (threads are different sizes on input and output), and thus the 5/8 OD tubing is the right size.... If you purchased a 1262, it looks like you we given a 1250. I'd return it if you are expecting 900+ gph...

I hear what you saying. Maybe I got the wrong fittings?

I got 2 - 1262's and they each came with a 3/4 and a samller 5/8"? fitting.

I call MD(thats where they came from) and ask them whats up.

It sounds like they sent you 2 1250's. The 1250 comes with 3/4" and 1/2" fittings. Those fittings are threaded too small to fit the 1262, so I'll bet they shipped you the wrong pump :(

No the name is printed on the back of the pumps, they are right.

I got 2 - 1262's and 1- 1260

All the treads are 3/4",suction and pressure sides.

Marine Depot had know Idea so they gave me Eheims number. I'll call in the morning as they are closed.

One other thing just to check, then. Are you putting the tubing _inside_ the barb or over the barb? The tubing should go over the barb.

Jack

The watt's is printed on the back plate 80W for the 1262 and 65w for the 1260.

"All the treads are 3/4",suction and pressure sides." Yep

I'm using 1" on my 1260. I have a 3/4" MPT to 1" slip adapter going to 1" spa flex that naturally curves to get outside my stand, then a 1" slip to 1" threaded with a hose barb, and then 1" vinyl tubing to my tank.

Eheim 1260-1262 it is the same size pump.

I use a 3/4" MPT to 1" insert S#80 on both ends, you need to use 3/4" mpt S#80 it has longer threads yes it is Metric but it is very close to 3/4" US MPT use some Teflon tape and you are good to go.

Here is the stock, sched 80 and sched 40 3/4" MPT fittings. As above, use sched 80 and some teflon tape.

OK, I just got off the phone with Eheim.

They said all the - NEW - 1260,1262's Have the same 3/4"(well its really metric) size thread sized fittings but,

The hose barb is different on the new pumps.

Like I said the intake takes a 1"ID and the pressure side is a 5/8"ID.

They said it does NOT change the flow rate of the pump but creates more pressure.

That's the same as my 1262 (it's a month old). FWIW, the ID of a barb is always going to be less than the ID of the tubing you'd use. It sounded like from your original post that you used 5/8 OD tubing. The OD of the barb is what you use to figure out what size ID tubing you need to go over the barb...

Jack

Yeah, I guess I wasn't clear but I thought everyones outlet excepted 1"ID tubing and I was wondering why mine was only 5/8 ID.
