Eheim compact + pump user , please assist

Dear All,

I try to removed the impeller of my Eheim compact + 5000 for washing but it's seems so difficult to pull the impeller out and worry of risking detached the impeller rotor then.

Any advise on the right technique to remove it ? Perhaps a you tube link that can assist me to do it right . Have found one in you tube but it is not the same type as my pump which is Eheim compact + 5000.

HV written their distributor but no response.

Soak it in warm water and vinegar mix for a while first. That usually works.

Thanks I usually do that but I wish to brush the impeller from any possible calcified substance .

Anyone can help ?

That pump had problems with there skimmer impellers not sure which kind you have. I do not like to remove my impellers on most pumps I just soak them for a long time in 50/50 and then run them for a lot more time. Like 3 days total.

The only way to get the impeller out is with a screwdriver you have to pry gently under the impeller and pump body slowly as they have a rear earth magnet that is very strong and coated in plastic you have to be careful. If the impeller is turning in the pump ok then just put it back in service. The way I clean mine is in a bucket of water and vinegar and run them for a few hours.

Thanks for your feedback. I be cautious on the impeller this time as I already brokered several Rios pump from 10Hf to 26HF you name it . That is why I don't want to take the risk with my Eheim compact + 5000. I wonder aside from
Vingar any other strong solution to removed stubborn calcification without hurting the pumps itself ?

You can use Tunze citric acid but vineger works as well and cheap even in Australia

IME, Eheim compact pumps are just awful and unreliable. Obviously, I would follow advice of those who have suggested ways to clean the pump, but . . . when you get to point that pump stops pumping, you are out of luck.
