ehim pump noise

i purchased an ehim pump that has a bad vibration to it. i have 4 other pumps that i have no problems with. what do you recomend. its anoying to hear it run. and i dont think the fish like it either. tomorow i have a reef club meeting here and i dont want to hear that noise. i took it all apart and there dont seem to be any thing wrong with it. i purchased it about 3 weeks ago.

That is quite rare with Eheim pumps. They are usually very quiet. Is the pump used externally or submersed? If the pump is plumbed externally, you will want to make sure that the pump is primed/flooded before it is turn on. Having some padding underneath the pump will also help to dampen any vibration noises. If the pump is submersed, it would be a good idea to place a piece of foam pad underneath the pump to reduce vibration noises. Also, check your tubing lengths to make sure that there is not too much slack. Aside from that, you will also want to take apart the pump and check to make sure that there are no debris trapped inside and give it a good cleaning.

If doing the above does not help to quiet the pump, please call us for an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number. We will be happy to take a look at the pump for you and replace it if it turns out to be a defect.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

they are mounted externaly using large foam pads. i have torn them apart 4 or 5 times changed the impeller timing on the magnet. and got them a little quieter. its not as quiet as i thought they would be but i had some one look at them and they said that it was there normal amount of noise. i think the impeller is not ballanced properly to avoid the vibration. for what someone has to pay for an ehim pump you would figure they would ballance the impellers and magnetsbetter. its there is nothing you could do that i have not done already. so what im wondering is where i can buy replacement impellers and magnets? do you sell them and how much are they/

Unfortunately, we do not have any replacement impellers on hand. However, you can order them directly from www.eheimparts.com. There are actually very few requests for these impellers as they seem to last a long time.

If you can post, or email us, a picture of the setup, we may be able to help you troubleshoot it better and try and help to figure out what the problem is. It may help extending the tubing between the bulkhead and the intake of the pump: this will help to dampen vibration noises better.

We will also be glad to take a look at the pump for you if you don't mind sending it back to us. Just call/email us with your information and we will setup a RMA number for you.

Sincerely,
Joseph
