Electric calculator

So when you use the electricity calculator, do you go by the kw hour/month or the cost/month? Cause it comes up with two really different figures.

The calculator isnt working for me so I cant help you with that, but I can tell you the formula if you want to add it up yourself.

For one piece of equipment:

Get the amount of watts
Know how many hours it is used per day

Then...

Total watts multiplied by the amount of hours per day

Then multiply that by 30 to get the number for 1 month

Divide by 1000

Multiply by your electric rate.

So for example, say you have a 100 watt light on for 12 hours a day, here is the math:

100 watts x 12 hours per day x 30 days per month = 36,000 watt hours per month

Then divide by 1000 to get units of kilowatts, so...

36,000 divided by 1,000 equals 36 kilowatt hours

Now multiply that by your electric rate, so say your rate is 12 cents per kilowatt hour

36 kilowatt hours x $0.12 = $4.32

So it costs $4.32 per month to run a 100 watt light for 12 hours per day.

Then just do that for all your equipment to get your total bill. You can also do it for other stuff around your house like your living room lights, etc to see how much stuff costs.
