electric costs

Now that I have been without a tank for a full month
our best guess is that our setup was costing about 45.00
to 50.00 per month in electric

Well carloski in this hobby with increasing electric costs when you add new stuff you never really care or get any idea what it costs per month to add stuff ..yes I know you in
CA can figure it out on the back of a shingle the various kw hours rates,amp draw and peak usage etc....so if you come home asking the better half about a new tank..and you lived in Florida..
and she asks what will it cost per month to run ..you can say only 50.00 per month..

Sure Jerry you'll just get a bigger tank..I have no idea what our tank is costing us. I would guess somewhere around 75. Jim thanks for the post, since you are tankless now and can tell what it was really costing you. I think ours is higher because of the halides and the chiller....

so now i know why...

my electric bill is over $500 month. and i don't have AC. just a lot of water to move around the tanks and koi pond and lighting for the tank.

but the good news is i don't have extra money i would be tempted to spend on drugs.

Wow 500.... Do you have a chiller also?

i do have a chiller but it doesn't come on too much. my daytime temps are rarely over 80, maybe a little higher in the room where the tank is.
