I have a 125g, and i get a little stock when the heater come on, i am grounding my self to the floor of my garage.
Has any had this problem before. I have a Hydor Theo Heater.

If you get an electric shock when your heater comes on that is BAD NEWS!!!! You also said you have a Theo Hydor heater, that is even worse news!!! These heaters are dangerous and can even float on the surface of the water if not secured down with suction cups!!! They are very bad heaters so get rid of it. Get a Aqualogic or Ranco controller and a titanium heating rod and your set. This is your safest bet.

Yes I have had that happen before, is your heater cracked? Mine was cracked and full of water and when I put my hand in(grounded) it yapped me. Also happened another time when there was salt creep on my power bar and shorting out a plug. Hope that helps

You should inspect your heaters at least once a month for moisture, put it on a calender to remember. If you see signs of moisture inside the glass chuck it or dangerous problems will soon appear.

Also, you should install a GFCI to prevent any possible accidents in the future. They are very inexpensive and very easy to install.

I also agree that a heater (glass or titanium) should be hooked up to a Ranco. Very reliable.

jimdogg187 has a good point if you don't have a GFCI you need to get one. every tank should have one. I made a mistake and drop a light that was on in the tank with both hand in the water and had no shoes on. lets just say I was a little crazy for a while and my shoulders spazedout for a little while. A Probe is also great for it takes stray voltage out of the water. needless to say i have both now and i still unplug everything when my hand are in there. Salt is a great conductor.

Stay current

Stay current

I bought a volt meter , It is reading now 2 volt to 10 volts , I can find the root of the problem, I removed a rio 600 that was reading 40 , then i removed it and it drop to those reading .

What heat is a good option, which is grounded, because Hydor is not , will the ranco help the grounding of the heaters too

The Ranco will control the heaters. Most of the time the thermostat in industry heaters is unreliable at best.

My advice is to locate the dangerous device and remove/replace it. Then replace the main socket /s you use for the tank with groung fault interupter (GFCI) switches from your local hardware store.

This way, if anything ever happens again, the GFCI will trip, and save you some trouble.

You can also add a grouding probe. This will cause the GFCI to trip before your hands do.
