Electricity in tank the cause????????

I have recently posted that my fish are becoming pale. I've heard that electricity/stray currents in a fish tank can cause the fish to turn pale because of the stress induced by the electricity. I measured the water with a voltage meter and found out there was 0.5 volts of electricity in the water. Is the 0.5 volts the cause of the stress? Or do all tanks have a small amount of stray currents? Someone mentioned that my 50 gallon was too small for the tang. It's true, but not for now...I haven't mentioned that my tang is only a baby tang...like only 3 inches-so I don't think that my tank is causing him stress.

The voltage is due to induced current by pumps that run on alternating current. If it bothers you install a grounding probe. One end into the tank the other into your GFI power strip. I don't think that is the cause of the problem.

I doubt it .. some would argue that a "grounding probe" may be good the the aquarist but not good for the fish.

Fish lose color for various reasons .. sterss and nutrition are high on the list.
