Electricity went out today

I just filled my sump up yesturday. Of course I found a flood on lunch it wasn't much of one, but that sucks. I hope no one else lost electricity. I hate that.

I don't know why I put to much water in the sump?? I guess I am just lazy and don't want to fill it up everyday. Float valve here we come. does anyone else have that problem?? I only have a 10 gallon sump because that is the only thing that will fit under the 40.

I only gain about a 1/2" of water in my sump when my tank is off. i used a check valve on my return pump and my overflow only skims about an 1/8" of water off the top.

I will need to look into a check valve. I usually don't have a problem but I filled my sump almost all of the way up. stupid stupid stupid

Be careful with check valves, though I have never used one they are prone to failing after time due to alge, critters growing in them, and calcium buildup.

If it were me I would limit the amount that is drained via the hight of overflow or syphon issues as others have commented on. Corse...it wouldn't matter if your sump is full to begin with.

Ahhh the agony of this hobby...I should write a book on my foul-ups.
