Electrition Needed for small job

Pictures tell all.

SOMEHOW a teeny tiny bit of water hit the plug, and the right prong melted. Nothing else plugged into same surge protector failed.

It works when plugged directly into my bathroom, but won't work with an extension cord.



Hoping someone can chop some of the cord, and replace the plug.

you can get stuff to rewire that yourself at places like home depot. Its not hard to do. Probably cost less than $5. Or if you want real help, stop into an ace hardware, those people are always really happy to help.

Thanks for the reply. I am willing to buy the part(s) needed. However, I do not trust my electrical skills.


Will the guys at Ace put it together for me, do you think? I'm more than willing to pay...

i'm a certified electronics technician, i could solder a new 3 prong on that cord in under 5 mins. I also have a ton of cords lying around my shop. If your willing to drive the hour to where I am at i would be happy to help.

1 hour could mean a lot. It could mean 20 miles a way, just with traffic, or it could mean 1 hour away, 60 miles away, but tons of highway driving, etc.

Most people at an ace hardware would change the plug for you for free. You just buy the plug and ask nicely .

Wouldn't hurt to cut that old plug off before you take it in to ace. They will be more likely to hook you up that way.

Don't have the tool to cut wire. Like I said, I was raised with no tools or knowledge of DIY type projects.

All we have is pliers (non-wire cutting type), and screw drivers. :mad2: :hammer:

You dont need to solder it. The replacement plugs have terminals where the wires slide into, then screw down. Where are you located? If you want to come out to kissimmee I can put a new plug on for you in 5 mins. I might even have an extra one lying around somewhere.
