two weeks is too long! :D

I know! But least there are still options left :)

I think he build just sumps but if you contacted Marc then maybe he could built an acrylic tank for you or im sure you've already been on it but his website will give you some good tips.
Cool avatar BTW

Well I was waiting on acrylic not because I couldn't do it but because:

1 - I was going to use the favor with my old man on a bigger tank (We're an acrylic using company).

2 - For fear of scratches and maintenance of, I was (again) going to wait on a bigger tank to use acrylic with so I could have more space for rock and coral placement and avoid the scratches.

But since most of my other options went out the window and I'd like to build my own tank, I've been seriously considering just going with it. :)

Kar93 I was going to build my own glass tank.. replacing the front pane of my old All-Glass 40Br with a Starphire pane, but when I took it apart, the glass had a lot of chips in it, and the bottom pane had a monster one.

The company I work for makes Acrylic Boat Windows.

I would but with my luck I'd rather use Acrylic as I've have much more experience with it than glass and silicone. :)

Hi Willie - Don't have much to update about except I think the rocks are ready to go into an aquarium. They look great. I am waiting for my Pops to send me my acrylic pieces and I still need to get weld-on from my local supplier (maybe I'll do that today).

I should be getting my acrylic pieces soon (In a few days). After that it should take me about a day to build the tank correctly. By then I'm hoping my skimmer will show up, then I'll be ready to get this together and get the clean-up crew in. :)

From a timeline view I am hoping I'll be done in about a week or so...

Needless to say: I wish you luck!

I'm still sitting here looking at an empty tank stand

Would you post directions on how to make an acrylic tank?
I might have to follow suit.

Me too :p

Janice: Sure, I was planning on posting my step by step pics here anyway with the lack of pics this thread has had lately ;) I do want to point out that there are tons of DIY acrylic tank directions out there that will prob be far superior to my own :D

A minor update: I did a 5G water change today after the major cleanout and am happy to report the rock looks fairly good. There is some residual hair algae but for the most part I'm thinking most of it's sources are severely depleted.

I almost had a screw up when I sent in the acrylic cut measurements. I gace the same measurements for both 3/8'' and 1/2'' thicknesses. I gave two options to my Pops and told him to use which ever there was more of (scrap-wise if available).

Hopefully I'll be seeing those cuts pretty soon. :D

Some things going on...

Some things going on...

Just wanted to say that I've done a couple of projects (One done, the other is almost there) so I'll be updating tomorrow when I finish it all. :)

As bad storms are coming through be it tornados in the north, hurricane season creeping up for the south, and who knows what for the rest... me and I'm sure a lot of you are ready or getting ready for it.

Lucky for us we have smaller tanks which in most times proves to be far more survivable than our larger counter-parts during power outages, etc.

For those of you reading I just wanted to remind you to remind your fellow reefers to get ahead in preparedness.. we all know how difficult it can be to get portable air pumps. The portable ones that come on after the power goes out is absolutely fantastic for us working stiffs :)

Anyway.. look forward to tomorrow :D

Argh unfortunately my help didn't show up for one of the last projects, but I do hope to finish today with it.

I am also going to buy an additional piece of equipment.. a Ranco Dual Controller. It's a good deal, and I couldn't pass it up :D This should supposedly be my last piece of equipment for the tank. With it (Along with my other equipment) I truly feel it's the best situation to leave my KISS tank under. More on this on my next post (when I get home).

Well the first was an easy one.. I mounted the DI Resin chamber verticle. The second was applying film (Sun Filter) to the top window that lets in sun into the reef room. The last one is sand cleaning of particles before putting it into my still non-existent tank.

I ordered a 75 gallon tank from glasscages with a built in overflow and it turned out perfect. The silicon was a little messy but nothing a razor couldn't fix. I am extremely happy with my tank from them. Sure the customer service could use some help but everything else was great.

Hope this helps you !
