Instantly! This pic of them in the bucket was taken just after the cutting.

The next day they were open and looked great!

Jeremy why did you say put it on sand away from the rock? My tank is BB no sand. I put it on a piece of rock thats been cooked for over a year.

Because the are only found in sand in nature. Rough surfaces can irritate the flesh causing them to retract.

Ok read the thread. My tank is so wide that I was able to put it on the rock well away from the main rock. And it's base is so tall that theres no flesh touching anything. no rock, no glass. It's on a pedestal so to speak.

It appears to be happy. We'll see how it does.
