Elmira area reef club???

That would be cool, but i'd be suprised to get over 20 members. It seems like i've only seen the same 15 people at our LFS in the last few years, but i really do hope there are more out there! I just went to ABC Reefs yesterday and Tim said they would like to start a regional club which would include our area.

yeah there arent many local guys but i can only think of about 5 in the immediate area that i have actually met and had a conversation with! I get sick of having to go to binghamton or syracuse to trade stuff

Hey man, welcome to my world. I felt like I was the only guy in Syr for years. Had to go to Roch to get good stuff. I know Tim and Dave want to set up a local club, but I'm not sure what their mission would be.

I suggested, at the least, to have Bi-annual frag swaps like Randy O does. Have some deals, offer the place up for trading etc..... I'd love to see them host one towards the end of the summer or fall. I know a lot of us are pretty busy most weekends during summer.

Haven't seen POSEIDOMORS or treefer post some time though.

Get a few of the Van Etten and Candor guys and its a start.

There is also just word of month not just people here at RC. I know there is a saltwater tank in Pietro's pizza place and Paesano's on the southside. Don't know who's tanks they are. Crystal City Bowling alley has a nice tank too.

tim a paesanos is a really nice guy and from what i have heard is really knowledgable about water chemistry and what not. i also have a few friends that are local but don't use reefcentral

Yeah i would love to see tim and dave do some more swaps even if it were just one a year! they should try for spring/summer it was a terrible trip in the snow for the last one

I really like the idea of the swap at the end of summer or fall. It gives you some time to save a little money over the summer, and get your frags set and watch them grow all winter long! treefer is nick at City Zoo

Good luck as we have just started a local reef club in Southwestern CT. The meetings are small but imo I learn more that way. We have only been meeting for the last 2 months at a library and have our April meeting in a lfs. Working out great so far.

This sounds like an excellent idea! I've got a 125 that I've been attempting to start a reef....I like to meetup with some more local people.
