Elos Aquarium for sale

hi everyone, sorry to hijack this forum but i need to help...

i have a brand new elos aquarium for sale. my brother bought it a few years ago but developed cancer and never had a chance to start it. he passed away a few weeks ago and it is sitting in his condo unused, brand new. i don't know anything about aquariums, but it's very large, i found this online and i think its the same model- Elos System 120 XL W/ PS 2000. all the equipment is inside still unpacked in the original box. i know he spent 6,000 on it a few years ago because i was amazed at how expensive it was to to be a serious aquarium person and teased him mercilessly on it.

there is also a small aquarium with coral and seaweed type things that he had bought as his starter aquarium before tackling the larger project. the marine life in it all unfortunately died because we were in the hospital for the last weeks and no one was at his home to take care of the fish, but the coral and other things seem to be ok. it needs a good cleaning.

please call me 424 217 0243. everything is located in marina del rey.

thanks for your help and sorry to post here just to sell something.

thanks. i will take a look online and post something for the price. do you have a suggestion of what a fair price is for a new item like this?

Sorry for your loss. Truthfully, as you may have guessed, used equipment never gets close to selling to what one pays for it new. Typically you are talking about 1/4 of the value originally paid. If I were the buyer, I'd look up everything individually and give you a fare offer considering the circumstances in which this is being sold.

With that said, I am not looking for a setup, but I am sure someone could appreciate that beautiful tank around here.

The pictures show an empty tank and you say it is currently running? is that picture old or is that how it sits today?

Honestly, I would ask anyone local to you that is in the hobby to go over and help you price everything so that you do not get steamrolled with low ball offers.

I'd like to think that everyone would be honest but that simply isn't the case all of the time.

I gave my wife passwords to my aquarium forum accounts because I told her in the even that I were to pass to reach out to specific people in the hobby that I knew would price everything fairly, and not the prices I told her I paid for the stuff.....

Maybe your brother was a member on here and has info in his profile or on a thread? Do you have access to his email?

i have access to his gmail but he had several accounts so i'm not sure. sorry, i don't mean to offend anyone. i don't really know much about this stuff. i just want to sell it for a fair price for my parents. someone told me 2000 was a fair price, but i guess it looks like the selling price of these aquariums has dropped since he bought it a few years ago. i am trying to find the paperwork on it but there are a lot of boxes of paper we are weeding through right now.

i also found a box in the closet with corals and some type of hose and bottles of minerals and plankton and stuff that i think is for the ph balance of the tank. i can throw those into the mix as well.

You aren't offending anyone, we are trying to help you through this difficult time. I can understand how something like this could easily be overwhelming. How about this, take pics of different items and we can tell you what they are and give you an estimate of what they go for in the used market. If he had an account here it would be helpful. Maybe mentioning his name and someone may have known him?

All Elos aquariums are completely low iron glass, even the back and bottom.

Elos has made standard glass aquariums. There was a small batch brought in by Jess of Elos USA but people chose to buy the clear instead. Jesse of Elos USA then chose to import only the clear glass aquariums.

thanks for the helps guys. you are a really nice group. makes me want to start an aquarium except i think they would all freeze in berlin, where i normally live. my brother's name was jin, but i don't know if he would have gone onto an online forum. he wasn't really an internet person, but he sure did know a lot of aquariums. its sad that he never got to start the elos. he was very excited when it arrived. i was visiting when it was was shipped to his condo. he already had his little mini elos aquarium going at that time and i did tease him a lot about how excited he would get about fish.

i can't go back and edit my original post so how do i add more photos?

Simply add them to any post from here on out. The pics will help greatly here.

Again, is the tank currently sitting empty or did he have it up and running? You mentioned he had corals currently going? Are they in the mini elos?

the tank is brand new. unused. the smaller elos mini was running. and that had some coral in it. the elos 120, the larger tank is still brand new. all the packaging in its original boxes.
