Elos Test kits at Yourreef

john is now carrying elos test kits! these kits have a great reputation and are highly regarded in europe.

So far I'm not impressed.
I bought the Phosphate PO4 and nitrate NO3 on Friday.

The little caps that are supposed to fit on the vials, doesn't fit and it leaks test stuff everywhere when you shake.

Also the PO4 says to shake the vial for 5 Mins!!!
I'm not about to carry around a vial that leaks for 5 mins shaking it.

Thus far I'm unimpressed.

I've yet to use the NO3
I will let you know what I think of that one soon (perhaps today even)

Just used the PO3.
Again unimpressed.

This one uses some kind of massive corrosive reagent (the warning on the bottle)

Again the plastic stopper leaked, granted this one fit tighter than the PO4 but not enough to stop leaking.

Also again must shake for 5 frikin mins.

So now I'm shaking a leaking vial for 5 mins that's now leaking corrosive liquid everywhere!!!

Anyone else have any better reviews?

Final review of the two I bought: Overpriced and, Wish I could get my money back.

If anyone wants to buy them off me they are more than welcome
to. They have both only been used once.

funman1, you should post about your leaky kit on the Elos forum. From what I've read, the po4 was highly regarded by alot of reefers who use it. Shaking a vial for 5 min is too much, I barely want to shake em for 30 sec. Are u sure its for 5 min?

Yep both say shake for 5 mins then take reading.
:(

I'll head over there today and see what people are saying.
Thanks for the idea, forgot they have a thread here on RC

The best way to test for PO4 is using an Ion specific colormetric test meter such as the Hanna. I have one very easy to use just add reagent powder to the cuvet and read it it is good down to 0.00 In my tank reading is stable at 0.02 to 0.01

I think it was $25 at the store. Can't remember but I think the phosphate was $29 plus tax on both

asking $20 for nitrate and $25 for phosphate.

If orig prices are wrong then I will re-adjust the asking prices.
I honeslty don't remember the exact price.

i'll take the nitrate kit. it'll be interesting testing it vs the aquarium pharm kit i just bought :).

pm your addy and i'll pickup sometime soon.

edit: i just posted about the leaky cap over in the elos forum.

I just talked with YR and they said to mention on the forum that I'm not upset about the test results.

The test results were great, just didn't like the testing leaking and the EXTRA LONG shaking time.

PS the nitrate kit is $29 at YR
But since I posted $20 will sell at that.
