I moved about 6 months ago and I have not been able to get my email notifications to work since.

I am now using a gaming/wireless adapter

I use mediatemple as my email provider via my owned domain

I have setup a new account to see if that is the problem.
I have tripple checked the SMTP outgoing server
i have tried multiple "to" email addresses (work, cell(text), home, wifes)
I am certain it isn't credentials with mediatemple.
have tried authenticated and none

Don't know where to go from here. I can access my system via lag, wifi, iPhone app etc. But none of my email tests are coming through.

ideas?

Have you tried using your ISPs SMTP server? Some ISPs block mail servers on port 25, except for their own (for spam related reasons). Some SMTP servers also accept connections on port 587 to get around this, however I would confirm that you are able to telnet into the SMTP server in question.

Open a dos window (Start > cmd.exe - or Start Run Accessories command prompt) and type 'telnet <smtp server address> 25', hit enter and see if you can connect. If not you will need to try your ISPs mail server. Worst case if you phoned your ISP they should be able to tell you if they block outgoing connections on port 25

i haven't tried Comcast (ISP)as my outgoing server as I have no issues at all sending email from mac mail (i don't own a PC anymore). although I do frequently get a pop up asking for confirmation.

I tried both the 25 port, and the 465, it made not difference.

465 is the SSL port so that likely won't work as I don't think the Apex can work with SSL SMTP connections. You do have SMTP authentication enabled and your username (email address) and password specified in the Apex network setup I assume?

After I've made changes in the network screen I typically restart the Apex. Does this make a difference? Also how are you testing the email alarm condition. One way is to set your EmailAlarm outlet (or whatever you called it) to manually on for a few minutes and see if you get an email.

i just changed all my outgoing mail settings to comcast info (per the comcast.net site)

still not change.

IM also checking this on my Mac (via mac mail) and on my phone number@messaging.springpcs.com and on my blackberry itself (via same email as the mac)

I don't think its being filtered, or one of the 3 would have gotten through, my blackberry filters nothing.

SMS should have gotten through as well, regardless of spam.

looking for more ideas...

Its gotta have something to do with the wireless adapter, but I don't know enough about how they work to determine what the issue might be.

The wireless adapter would not affect email.

mediatemple's standard mail servers support use of port 587 without SSL or TLS encryption, so it should work with the Apex.

Post screen shots of your Apex network and email settings. Also, do the Apex email diagnostic. To do this:

Run Terminal (found in Application/Utilities). Then do these commands:

In the Terminal window, type telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx where the x's are your Apex's IP address.

Then, once connected, hit ^] (Crtl+])

You should now see:
telnet>
Type mode line and hit enter. Hit Enter again until you see 'login:'

Now login with your login/password. Once logged in, execute these commands:
cons
1 maild
mail
Post the output here.

I think Comcast is the one with DNS issues. Try changing your DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Reboot. See if that helps.

I'm having a similar problem, so hope you don't mind if I jump and post my output to Russ' secret commands. Please let me know what this means.

Did that, checked "Email Test" and updated... nothing.
Also restarted Apex.

Will try GMX next... the funny thing is that iCloud (me.com) had been working fine for about a month, and then nothing...
