emerald bay moving

This is what's on there websit and looks like there moving to the east side by Lakewood. Hey it's closer for people in Hendersonville and Mt.Juliet.


Emerald Bay Fish & Reptiles is moving locations! Nearly everything is on sale prior to the move. Emerald Bay is still receiving orders every week & can continue with any special orders. Our new address will be:

Hehe yeah we do, but it always smells like someone just vomited in there, which when combined with the smell of old urine and air freshener makes me want to leave before I make it to where the fish are.
 
No No No you got it all wrong Petcos fish are the ones that are covered these cool looking white spots and they do this neat trick where they pretend they are sleeping on the sand bed. But they are very very sneaky they are just pretending to be dead, you can still see them breathing very slightly. :)

LOL yeah that's true. The ones I've seen at Emerald Bay are usually half-eaten. Seriously. I have no idea why people like that store. I mean, say you want to buy a shrimp from one of their tanks - Do you just say, "Hey I'll take that larger shrimp in the back...no, no, the one picking at that dead wrasse's eye socket"?
 
I am bummed about the move. What was a 15 minute drive will now be a 45 min drive.

As far as Ebay goes. It is my favorite place to go. There might be a dead fish every now and then. But I have seen the same at both of the other LFS. At least I don't get lied to(like one LFS) or ignored (like the other). I was at one this weekend and in an effort to sell me something they lied about it's diet. One google search gave me the correct info. They said a "new study" showed it ate a naturally occurring product from our tanks, when in fact it has been known only to eat sponges and possibly only two kinds and that is it. When i asked for the study or the person who performed it, I got...." I don't remember". Yeah right. And I was going to lift the boycott too. guess not.

I have seen nothing remotely close to that in their store. It is not the nicest shop around by any means but the dead/sick fish are usually what I notice from AC and much much worse at that fins place in franklin. I found it hard not to laugh when the club meeting was held there and they were giving lectures on how to care for these animals.

All in all I am not thrilled with any of the stores in our area which is the reason why I generally mail order everything including livestock (divers den can't be beat) unless I can purchase healthy specimens from other reefers.

The nicest stores I have been in were aquatic specialists in knoxville (run by john tullock and no longer in business) and Kermits reef in Memphis. Stopped in there a couple of years ago and the quality of the livestock and the jaw dropping display tank were extremely impressive. Nothing around here compares. I attribute this to the single fact that both of these stores were experts in the realm of fish disease and treatment and quarantine fish before putting them out to sale. I saw their quarantine system at aquatic specialists and have talked to dave about his practices at kermits reef. Of course this leads to higher prices but I would rather pay twice the price for a healthy fish than buy 3 sick ones before finally getting a healthy enough specimen to make it through quarantine.

It is however nice to know that if I am in a pinch and need something quickly I can drive 25 miles instead of 45 miles.
 
From my understanding they are going to be a pond store. And may have very little or no saltwater livestock. We will see. It's a good lil LFS and all the employees are great too! I liked going up there just two hanging out and talking reef geek stuff with the staff. But that was 2yrs ago when they where all was stock up. with the top of the line corals.

If true that will suck. That will leave AC as the only store around unless you want to trek up to Bowling Green.
 
The few times I went there I was sorely disappointed each time. Overpriced corals, they nearly always looked unhealthy, the tanks were full of bubble algae and nastiness, fish half dead or very low stock of everything. They seemed to get better for a while, found a very nice acan and thought I'd give them another chance. Then I called about a particular coral, was told they had it in stock and I drove from Spring Hill to get it. I get there and they had sold out of that coral the day before. That was the last time I ever went back.

This is what I was told today by the older guy that works in the mornings. And it won't be open til the end of June.
 
Fins of Franklin is doing a lot better in my opinion. At critters they're usually busy cleaning or something. Always have someone to take care of me. I really didn't like emerald bay. That store reminded me of the fish bowl that closed years back......people are nice there but they need better maintenance!
